To borrow a line idea from Fritz. Tonight we lost our Tortoise Manx rescue cat at about 20 years old. She was a sweet cat, about the most friendly and gentle personality. She was tied with only one other of our cats over the years for personality. This in itself would be a hard loss on it's own, however this was Steven's cat and after loosing him in the fall this is a hard deal for our family. Steven's twin brother is taking it hard as it is a real reminder of each day it seems a little more is gone from our lives.
Damn, sorry for the loss of your cat. My cat is 16 years old and kinda acts like a dog at times. Always wants to be near you and crys when your away.
Her name is Mae. Adopted sister is named Mischief about 16 years old. Her name says a lot about her. Down to our rescue Springer Spaniel Ella and the silver Manx Mischief.
Dude, that stinks, especially now when you and the fam are home all the time and her loss will be all that more tangible. Sorry about your loss.
You have my sincere sympathies. Cats have let me live in the same house with them for all of my life. When they leave it is heart wrenching. Maple will not go to sleep unless I give her a good head and neck massage. And neither can I. So sorry. Archie
For such independent animals they become very entwined in our lives. One of ours is also very Dog like. Its so hard to loose one . Good luck with dealing with your grief.
Condolences to you and your family. Cats can be very special in so many ways and it sounds like yours was one of those extra special ones. UticaGeoff
You have my sincere condolences. We lost our youngest son to a car accident in Nov 2017, and his cat, Baby, was completely lost. It took her two years to attach herself to me as my cat. Fortunately, she is only 10 years old, although she looks like a kitten. I don't know what I will do when we lose her. She is my most solid link to Mathew I have left. Anyone who doesn't have a cat doesn't realize the bond that forms with them. Yes, they can be aloof. Yes, they can ignore you. Yes, they always seem to know when you need them. Their loss is hard.
I am sorry for the loss of yer kitty, and the re-opening of the wound in your heart for your son. May all the joy that both of them brought you outweigh the sorrow of losing them, over time.
Thanks to all for the thoughtful comments. We buried Mae in one of Steven's Marine flightline T-shirts under a big oak tree we can see from our camp window. A few hundred feet down the path on the right.
Sorry for your loss. Obviously she was something very special to you so she is more than "just a cat". Mikey
Sorry for you losses. We are a pet family and family is for life and pets are loved the same. I miss every one of my dogs and cats that crossed the bridge and I gave them the best health care I could when the were here. Although not quite on the same level as children parents or spouses, Pets are up there with the best companions in this life and we mourn as a family when their time is up. Our house is plastered the memories of our past family and pets are a big part of it. God bless you and your family.
Condolences John and Family .. they are much more than "just" our pets and our time with them is never long enough.
Sorry to read about this, your family has suffered so much and another loss is just like being kicked when down.......I understand the feeling, we lost my allie dog in late September then dad in early march......I'm actually sit some nights scared if what else is going to happen. Pets to some are just like family members Thoughts and prayers
