BIG QUESTION though along with other lies he told me although it as parked since 1990 was he replaced the original flywheel with a “high dollar”T/A billet (er sumthin) flywheel.
My BS detector is going off with touching it with the wire wheel, never seen anything billet etc coming out like factory steel like this one.
Unless someone knows better looks like another win and another “paid up” loss for me but I STILL AINT GIVIN UP!

Those pistons should give 8.5:1-8.8:1 and they are forged TRW.

John, I wish you could send some of that rain my way. Everything in the yard goes "crunch crunch" Then when it starts it will flood for months. Keep up the progress, soon you will be cruising brother!

Yo Fritzentatters... How the tattoo healing? I wouldve put blue ink in there to remind you of them blue colonoscopy gloves LOL... Before you bolt the heads down, are ya gonna block off those 430 oil passages in the deck? Best thing I ever did! I think the 1970 blocks still had both. My 1975 block only has the one by #1 hole. ws

Yes. We always plug the small hole on the deck at the front of the block.either tap it for a plug or drill it to 3/8 and install a 3/8 freeze plug.

Then you can use the later hollow pushrods and the valve train gets oiled through the rods.

One would think it isnt necessary since the head gasket circles this hole and its sealed off if using 70 and later heads. However,I've seen oil seep past the gasket a couple times and runs down the front of the block. So for me its SOP. If your using a 67-69 head and you changed over oiling the rockers through the pushrods, definately need to plug it, you'll be oiling the top through the pushrods and the head, way too much oil.

Well, rain arrived today, was out till 10pm policing up anything that could be damaged by the rain & tarped the engine up water tight & put other cylinder head & intake inside my Suburban.
That said due to many things I won’t go into I wasn’t able to get out of bed on my own till after 4pm (that’s okay due to rain).
In the dark other than cell phone light I got the starter rats nest rewired, cleaned & painted and got one bolt snugged to hold it in place.
I then mounted the motor mount & lowered it into its cradle with my phone light & wrecking bar (a happy moment : )
Getting a couple bolts in the M/T’s just to hold it in place was fun in the dark lol but sounds like I need to drop that header & pull the passenger side head to block that oil hole.
Kind of a bummer but a LOT better than when after everything is all buttoned up so Thank You to everyone who spotted that (very much appreciated: )
Anyhow I can barely move plus I have a sleepy puppy snoring on my lap so going to gladly take this day of rain off (pollen has been REALLY bad so rain will help that too)
Thanks for all the encouragement my friends, cannot even tell you how happy I am to have vanquished that banana yellow previous owner paint job & the possibility that I might be driving again hopefully sooner than later:)

On 455's the hole is only on the driver side.

Excellent! So that passenger side is okay then? Woo Hoo!
I was also asked about that extra gasket hole over solid block on right top location on passenger side? Supposed to be a 72 block & had 72 heads for sure and the old gaskets matched the ones I am using,it that just a duplicate of the drivers side oil port?
