Do I need some kind of ballast resistor for electronic conversion of my 1960 ignition? Directions only say that it “can” be installed in applications with a ballast resistor. In which case resistance is placed between the red wire and 12V switched source.
Ok, so I put the original wires that went to coil + back on along with the new distributor +? Tom, another question I have is, in converting to an aftermarket 4 bbl carb I no longer have the factory starter activation switch. As it is a unique Buick feature I want to keep that function. What is the best way to retrofit some kinda switch (recommendation) to work off of the carb? Its an Edelbrock AVS2
The only way I know is to get an original '57-'60 AFB Buick carb. I don't know of anyone that has tried to retrofit one on a non stock carb. Most take the easy way out & install a starter button mounted somewhere out of site.
So, Mr Tom, do I simply put original coil+ wires back in place and add the new red distributor + wire to those? Will that give the correct reduced voltage? oops, and is that little “can” supposed to be wired to coil + or -
Um...anyone know if simply putting the original coil + wires back in place along with the new red distributor + wire will give me the right end result? That is, voltage stepped down via the stock resistor and correct voltage to the distributor by the new red wire?
