Some more food for thought for you...

When I spoke to the second owner of my car, he said he bought the GS in 1971 off the used car lot of Selover Buick. It got me thinking that most Dealers, used to advertise their cars in the local newspaper. I found the Billings Gazette online and searched the 1971 issues of the paper. As luck would have it, I found the newspaper ad for my car in the December 1971 Billings Gazette listed as a "Christmas Special" for $2900. I printed it out and framed it.

I even went so far as to email the owner of Underrinner Motors to ask him if maybe my car was a demo is it was traded in a little over a year later. The guy actually emailed me back. Wrote me a nice email. He said he remembered a white GSX (Jeff Sapps' old car) that passed through the place, but my car didn't ring a bell for him.

Im always searching Ebay for dealer emblems (yeah, people collect those). I'll let you know if I come across one from your dealer.

I was so shocked to get in touch with the guy that I didn't think to ask if it was a private sale but now that I think of it, it had to have been if he knew the owner.

A dealer emblem would be a very cool touch to the car.

I'll give it a go this week and see what happens.

I'm happy I talked to him today and that there's a chance he'll send old pictures.

I'm working on yours too Nelson:). And I still have stuff here to mail to you. Forgot to tell you that I spoke to one of my buddies who was around when I got the car in '86 and he's sure he has a bunch of pics of when we washed it the first time in his driveway (in the middle of winter no less) and said he'd get me copies of them for you. Patience my friend:). I haven't forgotten you.

Could have been in the local classifieds. Joe would probably remember how he found/bought it. I.m sure youll talk to him again. You probably made his day today just as much as he made yours - Sounds like he had fond memories of the car and just as I suspected, it was probably never anyone's daily driver.

The night before Brett came down we were out to dinner & I had a bit of a panic that I had lost the keys to it :Do No: until I finally remembered that I'd left them in the ignition of the Stage 1 (the reverse lockout of course still worked & I had jacked it up to check something) :Dou:. So we go for a drive (Brett had to "remember" that a 50 y/o m/l orig. suspension GS with M/T headers doesn't take well to the speed bumps in my neighborhood:)) and we get back near my house & I said "do you want to go back" and Brett said "Let's drive it a little more." He was in heaven...lol and in the end he probably drove the car more on the "test drive" than I ever had;). As sad as I was to see it go, it was a fun day really.

I didn't want to stop driving around suburban Baltimore! The Chevy guy had as much fun as we did. Haha

Although, I could've done without the speedbumps in that swanky neighborhood. :)

I'm sure I'll talk to Joe again now that I've thought of more questions to ask him. I just wish he had an email adress but oh well....

It is always fun to hear the stories about the car and the people that owned them.

Dano, thanks for the help. I hope one day it is my story riding around in the old girl after such a long hibernation....

That car is near & dear to me Nelson, so I'm happy to whatever I can to help. Looking forward to it being ready for that one special NOS part I have for it. I sure hope to be able to take another ride in it someday:). Been a long time. Still need to go through the bin of A/C parts too, but I have a feling I have everything from the other car exc. maybe the firewall boxes and condenser & I think I have an add'l set of boxes.

Dano, I understand as you can grow attached to them... I am trying very hard to use quality parts and correct dated parts for her. It was not easy to find a correct original rust free 70 core support.... I had NOS but wanted a correct 70 one, you know how it is. I have nice 70 dated glass all but the windshield and I will have that done when I purchase one. I have been putting back parts to be ready for when I get it out of the body shop.

Exactly three months to the day that I inquired about this car, it was delivered. Shout out to Dano - for obvious reasons; CJP69 for the initial, matter of fact-ish heads up and to Sean Ryder for transporting it up here.

It's gonna be a great summer. In fact, I was off Thursday and blew through an entire tank of gas.

Ready to start the journey up the East Coast.
