Hi guys, can you provide me an image (photograph or other) of the area around the battery tray? My manual doesn't show and the situation before sandblasting was a mess with rust and prior crappy repair work. I would like to fix the tray and front wheel housing, correctly but I can't find proper images.
Mike Garrison(RACEBUICKS here on V8Buick) repro's the repair panels for the core support. Here is a link to his webpage where there are a few pics of a rusted out core support in various stages of repair. Just scroll down page a little. http://www.mrbuick.com/reproductionparts.html
Yes I've seen that website. That's looking great, but how and where should the battery tray go? And regarding the front of the wheel housing? That was all rusted away, so I don't know how that should go together.
This is what your core support should look like in that area The front edge of that inner fender 68/69 NOS Battery tray (yours should look like this) This is the assembly, only have a pic from a manual - Will make sense once parts are fixed and you have holes to line up. Better example of assembly but this for a 69 big car (fender/core support pic is different but same assembly)
Well, I was working in this area today, but because too much was damaged due to rust I'm not sure how to proceed. Core support mounts for example, weren't even used. I tried to line up the front wheel well and the core support. Edit, I ordered the chevelle kit from ss396.com. Not sure if that makes a difference for my next question. First, is the body mount correct this way? Chassis between rubber mounts, support on top of that: Should the wheel well be aligned like this? With the angle on the well and chassis matching? And approximately one inch or 3/4 inch above the chassis? If someone could provide some info or perhaps even pictures or dimensions that would be fantastic.
I've found a 71 chassis manual, but that shows the core support mounts differently. I've attached the image. Should my 69 be like this or like the photo I posted in the previous post? Edit: I actually did take pictures, but they were hidden a little bit at first. The 71 chassis manual is right, because I did have bushings: Cool, will try to mock up again later today.
