If you booked your room at the Holiday Inn in Heath Ohio there may be a chance that they will not open in time for the BPG event. They plan on opening July 31st. I suggest you contact them to make sure they will be open for your reservation. There is a hotel that is only about 5 miles away http://www.newarkmetrohotel.com/ They have given the BPG a rate of $85 a night. Mention the BPG when you call do not book online. this is just an option in case the Holiday Inn is not open on the 31st, I will be contacting the general manager in the morning to confirm this information.

I just found this out the hard way! After playing phone tag with them for a while i finally spoke with a manager who said they wouldnt be open in time and i had better make other reservations. I got another reservation made in case, but im holding out hope that some rooms will open up at the Hampton.

when I called last night they said July 31st...today they said August 1st...I am just worried for those that booked that renovations after the fire might take a week longer and you will have no place to stay.

Id be worried. When i spoke to them yesterday just to confirm theyd be open by the 2nd when we were supposes to check in they said without hesitation NO, and that id better make reservations elsewhere. Given the hard time i had communicating with them and now conflicting information, no way would i chance it. Ive got reservations made elsewhere now, but am hoping to get into the hampton last minute if im lucky.

    Dear M. Ryder,

    Regarding confirmation number: XXXXXX

We are writing you regarding your upcoming reservation for the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Newark - Heath, OH, arriving on August 3, 2012. Due to a fire at the hotel several months ago and subsequent construction delays in rebuilding, the hotel has needed to postpone their reopening date and because of this they will be unable to honor your reservation for your stay. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
However, we are able to assist in making alternate arrangements for your accommodations. Please call our reservation office at 800-621-0555 and we will be happy to assist you with finding alternate accommodations.
We know you have many choices when it comes to lodging and want to thank you for continuing to choose IHG properties for your travel needs. We appreciate your business and look forward to hearing from you.
    Sincerely,
    Jessie Gustin

They were a pain in the arse from day one with Moses and I. That's why we never used them as the host hotel. That tick's me off (again) with them. Jerks.:rant:

I was able to get in (after the holiday inn debacle) at the econolodge right next to the holiday inn and about .4 miles from the hampton. Its certainly no ritz, but its a roof over our head. There are a few others in the general area though so you should be able to find something (bu i sure wouldnt wait much longer!)

I was planning on it but now after this I'm not so sure. I might not have the one car ready in time anyways:Dou: Maybe have to wait to see you guys at Cecil or Englishtown.

In a certain sense, it will suck to be there without your Buick, but in reality you'll have a GREAT time meeting new people and enjoying all the activities going on.

Agreed...last year I was without my car for the first time, and it didn't affect my demeanor. Yes, it's nice to have a car there, but it was also nice to be able to relax a bit. I don't have one this year, either...

The Newark Metro is not opened. They put us up at the Cherry Valley Lodge with one free night.
