    Good looking Firebirds there Brian
The car in question is an automatic and I wasn't looking to flip the car I was looking to add to my collection and put it next to my double black low option and stage one automatic. Soon to have A iron Stage 2 head 475 stalled. I like this car because it has all the options. I never really had a chance to enjoy my black stage one because it's always had 4 30 gears in rear an it's not very fun in the summertime in a double black car with no AC going to a car show I think the bamboo cream car would be the perfect summer time cruiser. Or I was going to redo my 71 GS 350 convertible and re-create a 71 red GSstage one White interior, white top, and a 4 - speed with all the options. What are your thoughts on that thanks.

Looking over the bamboo cream car again that was a fair price for that car it needed a lot of detailing under the hood. It also had headers in order to get a real good price you have to take the speed equipment off the car.

What if the speed equipment is period correct, though?

Say maybe an early B4B, some M/T SS headers and a Stinger ignition but the original stuff is included?

Most collectors like to purchase a car that is visibly stock appearing they don't want to have to put The right parts back on.

70 stage one did come from the factory with headers, Aluminum intake, or a 850 Holly. That goes for other brand cars also.

Stage two car is a different story over the counter.

After today, obviously the stage 2 package car gets zero respect also.

The gold 71 stage one convertible had Mickey Thompson's on it and a overdrive transmission Hantz the price.

I’ve isolated your reply to the words that are most important.

1). Sounds like the bamboo cream car (Stage 1!!!) fits in with what you are doing so makes all the sense in the world to try and strike a deal.

    2) Why clone/tribute/recreate when you can get the real deal? Obviously a very different car than the Bamboo Cream one, but you’ll always know it isn’t the real deal. The BC car is the real deal...

I like my Firebirds, but given the investment should have found at least HO optioned or Ram Air cars for one of them(the coupe). They are both configured as closely to factory as we could get them with a few tweaks on the coupe.

Those are some sweet looking Firebirds mine was originally green with white interior but I had to paint her black since I was going to custom route with ghost flames that are very hard to photograph

Came from the factory or were dealer installed? Never heard of this but doesn't mean it didn't happen....

The very first Firebird I tried to buy was a '67 400 with ghost flames on a verdoro green paint job(spring color). It was a couple years after that before I finally ended up with a Firebird.

I think the Bamboo 4 speed was the pick of the litter at this auction....

I tend to agree on the console, exc. as we've discussed on here, with the exception on a bench seat 4-sp. or '71-72 vert and even there you may be right. I passed many years ago on a very low mi. well cared for '70 GS 455 (ironically Bamboo Cream with Burnished Saddle interior IIRC) simply b/c it had a bench seat - Had nothing to do with the color. Left there & went and knocked on the owner's door of the locaal basket case GSX that no one had been able to buy and made a deal on it right then. Timing is everything.

Given that, I was suprised the low mi. black col. shift '70 Stage 1 sold for so much. IMHO, the "trailer hitch" car was a much better deal. I don't know what it ultimately sold for, but I'd assume high $70s/low $80's (last asking price was $84k IIRC). Without havibg seen it in person, someone seemingly got a very nice car for a seemingly reasonable price.

Personally, it sounds like an awesome car. If I wanted a loaded GS (I prefer strippers:)), I'd want it really loaded like this one, and I never let the original colors really influence me much, but it does affect value more to others than to me. Plus numbers matching and well documented certainly helps with the ultimate value so depending on the selling price I don't think you can go too wrong. If you'd care to share it and any pics w/o giving away the lead/location, etc. that might help.

I think they almost all look good when done right, and even though I'd have preferred a different top/interior, even my old Sherwood Green Stage 1 4-sp. w/Brown top and (non-recommended by Buick) Burnished Saddle interior would've been re-done to original and I'm sure would've looked beautiful (of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder:)). I know of a '70 350 4-sp. that was built in the same color combo. plus it had the "Z" on the trim tag indicating the non-recommended interior and I like the oddball stuff like that.

I know I really liked the Bamboo Cream '70 455 w/the painted black top that was for sale a while back, but I also prefer painted tops to vinyl if for no other reason b/c they're different and not many were made, let alone how many cars have been ruined by vinyl tops.

It's not my money, but you asked so since I can live vicariously with your $, I'd say go for it (I would):). But as I said before, I wouldn't trust anyone who likes green cars:). Let us know what happens!

Agreed, never heard of that from the factory w/Buick. In a way, kind of amazing Buick even made these cars to begin with, especially the strippers. With all the engineering, tooling, and marketing involved for the GS only stuff, I can't imagine they were very, if at all profitable.

Never happened from the factory. If you can show me proof I will stand corrected and yield I have learned something. My stage2 package was over the counter only.
