Were you using nitrous to get the 12 second quarter mile runs?

No, those were on motor. This next motor will be on the bottle though

12s on motor? I have heard that is not possible with a little 350....

Tell us the combo, stock type build with ported heads?

It was nothing super crazy. I bought a motor that someone had already rebuilt at some point and spiffed it up. It was .030 over with some old TRW pistons, it was pretty damn lose and needed to be bored but I had no money so a hone an re ring it was. Stock pre 73 rods, stock crank, stock heads, stock valves, stock springs, stock locks, stock retainers, small flat tappet cam. I did my first attempt at porting on the heads an intake, they worked but are much cooler this time around. TA stage 1 intake, headers, loved up HEI, 950 holley DP, 1 inch Q jet to 4150 adapter plate to help with the transition, 3.73 gear, 3800 converter, and drag radials. It has 10.8 to 1 and had less than .500 lift at the valve. It was really just slopped together junk that we prepped the best we could and my car was set up pretty good so the combo work. I ran in on pump gas and drove it around all the time, sometimes even as a daily driver when my beater was not running. Even will the small cam it sounded pretty good with the super 44s and the 2.5 mandrel bent pipes all the way out the back. That is about it, not clue how much it weighed, all steel skylark with bench seat and power brakes. I had a blast with that combo. If I missed something let me know and I will try to fill you in.

Anything ever happen with this? If I could afford the super victor to cut up, I would make one. It just looks so cool, and could be done to look like it was cast that way originally.

He has been e-mailing back and forth with me and progress is still being made. I am trying to help him find a Flywheel for him to use on the dyno. I have one here but shipping is $$$.

This project has not died, But going to college full time and working 6 days a week does not leave much free time. To be honest the intake is just sitting at my buddies waiting to get welded up, I am lighting the fire under him to get it done though. When I get something worth taking a picture of I will post it up for you guys to check out.

Since you can cut things, and make things, and weld things, I bet you could do it for much cheaper than you think. I bet I will have around $400 in it when it is all said and done.

i have made 3 different ones so far. a s/p, a s/charger and another s/p for gunn racing. the s/c costs me the most due to i cant weld alum. that was $400 alone. the s/c intake total cost was about $800. the s/p $300. add tooling and fixturing adds more and i do all my own machining. i have another s/p intake in progress for a friend to try. would do more, but not many understand or appreciate the power of a s/p on a 350. :Smarty:

Not the ability for me that' a problem, it's the $300 or so to spend on the donor intake that holds me back. Well, that and the fact that I like my X-Factor a LOT.

I don't weld but the welding was done for free on my intake,I was still out $400.00 right off the gate.I did all the mock up and machining, many hours went into mine, not cost effective.Cool part!

Thanks guys, I am going to have Pro Systems make me a carb for E-85. I don't know all the details on it but I am thinking somewhere in the 950-1050 range.

That's a lot of heat, in a lot of places. Did it warp much? Are you going to weld on a water passage or do the hose thing? Bottom skin? Looks super cool, eager to see more!

He did use a lot of heat, he is more of an industrial welder. We put some pretty deep V's in everything to make sure there was good penetration and he was trying to fill the gaps. It did not warp to bad, the billet flanges were bolted to the heads so everything stayed in place pretty good. I am going to use some steal braided lines and AN fittings for by water passage, Moroso sells a water neck box that it will hook to. We were going to make one but it was nothing but problems. I am going to make a bottom skin out of some plate. When I get some time to grind some more I will show some pictures. College is keeping me mighty busy though.

Making the water passage is no big deal. I make the whole thing out of flat plate and it has all the stock mounting provisions. It would be a nice touch on that masterpiece! Maybe you could hack the water passage off a junked Poston or TA intake? Cool to hear you are putting your schooling first though!
