I was wondering if anyone was actually already prepared for the race. I am not even close. I have not started to tinker on the car Larry's son is going to race and mine is well... The trim did show up yesterday, no bumpers yet and I am missing other small items. I truly doubt the Boss 302 I registered with will be anywhere near Martin in June. Maybe the Judge can unretire for the umpteenth time. It is ready!

    Good luck everyone.

I really should take the heads out of the plastic bags.....and I just dropped Paul Vitale's motor off at the body shop.......

:idea2: really should work on these things in the Winter.............

No. I stole a couple of parts off the Ramrod tryins to get the 66 running, which still is having problems and won't make it. So....I need to put them back on the Ramrod and get it out from storage and prepped. I'll be there.

I'm getting there. I need to get the dash pad back in after tinkering with a few things. Then I would just like to go to a test and tune at Lapeer, or Milan if I have to. It is always so crowded at Milan on Wednesdays. I also need to give the tow vehicle an oil change. I also have to put the Wide Oval tires back on, too. I have been running the Radial T/A's on the street since I got it out of winter storage.

Mark, I was hoping you would join me in your Ford this year. I am curious to see how your Boss 302 will run and how it will match up with my heavy Torino.

    290hp Boss 302 VS. 370hp 429SCJ

You're a better driver than me so I think you have a major advantage already.

Gonna pull the cover off soon.

Swap coolant, prepare the master blend, attempt to change the oil and rotate tires.......

Hope that does it. Sounds simple, but I'll bet it will happen on the 21st.

Install heads and then the motor after breaking a valve spring and bending pushrod durring a test driving on the road (350 ft of posi still looks good). It buzzed to 7000 for a split second and did its damage.Thought I had a fouled plug and took it to the track ran a 13.60 at 106.20 MPH .Did a compresion check and had a very dead cylinder. Its chipped at 6200 now and should be back together at the end of next week.No time to practice but I will be there.Hope for better things starting soon.:3gears:

if I remember right, didn't you epoxy the drain plug shut? so I guess attempt is an accurate description.

as for me being ready, well, I bought a car. ordered some parts which haven't arrived yet. I just ordered them a couple days ago though. And more seat time and probably a test-n-tune session as I learn the intricacies of a 4sp.

Still havta do some fine tuning of the pinion angle on the Biscayne. STILL trying to get the wheel hop to go away. 4.56's are in. Coolant is swapped and new hoses all the way around. Still wanna get it to the track at least once before Martin. We'll see if that happens or not ???? :Do No:

    Dave,
No automatic, ever try to pick up a cast iron Cruise-o-matic? Never was a good choice of trannys for '57 Fords. All of the old Super Stock cars ran Fordo's or Cruise-o-matics. I went 14.03 at Stanton with 4.11's, going to try 4.56's at Martin, see if I can notch a 13.90. Probably blow it up and go 15's.

With the mandate of 1 race in MI per year, I am going to have to wait on racing till Sept. Believe me, the 1st thing I do when I win the lottery is change that rule. Have a great time, be safe, and tip a couple back for me. :beer

As for my assault on the 1320, I have to get a couple of small things done before I terrorize the locals. Making plans for late July in St. Louis, then Katie bar the door in Stanton. Shootin for a 12 sec time slip out of the H/O!:bglasses:

The trans is apart and I need an alignment before getting to Martin. It will be close but we'll get there.
