Just looking around for some deals on performance parts. Big block headers, preferably long tube but can be shorty, aftermarket spread bore intake, single or dual plane, hei distributor, and any other parts you guys may have laying around

If you got some insight on what i should do. This is gonna be a vehicle i wanna cruise around in, but also hit the gas and get it moving pretty quick. I know its a 4500lb. Barge. But i got some buddies with small block olds, chevys, and mopars that got work done and i wanna keep up pretty well with them. I do wanna throw a cam in it eventually but most require expensive roller rockers. Car already has a posi rear with i think 3.23 or 3.08.

Nothing you do to that 430 will be cheap. Plenty you can do with what you have just by setting up the timing and giving it more fuel/ exhaust flow. So, read up on the power timing thread. Get your carb built for what you want to do by Mark at Q jet power or Ken @ Everyday perf. Dual free flowing exhaust.

The qjet (original or a ‘71-up 800cfm, built right, not parts store junk), iron intake, and stock distributor all are more than adequate to light up the tires and roll. You want torque, not rpm, not horespower. That factory delivered torque in spades, just optimize what you have. If you don’t want points put an electronic ignition (crane xr1 or similar) in the (recurved) points distributor. Use 2 1/2” exhaust and long case Walker mufflers and it’ll be very quiet-your small block buddies won’t know what hit them, and when you pop the hood and see black wires, manifolds, lots of cast iron and red stock parts they’ll be even more puzzled.

    I have a 69 electra 4 door custom.
I have installed a pertronix module in the stock distributor and added the flame thrower coil.
Put new NGK spark plugs gaped at 45 and new black Taylor plug wires and set the timing.
Adjusted air door on the carburetor and it woke the car up.
Starts up with a touch of the key now.
I am in the process of installing a 2 1/2 dual exhaust system.
I have the stainless down pipes made by pypes and they are very good quality made and fit the stock exhaust manifolds perfect.

Ok. So basicly for now get a good exhaust and headers. I plan on putting headers and exhaust on no matter what cause the stock ones rotted away.

I eventually plan on putting a mild cam in it. TA performance recommends on some of their cams to get roller rockers. Those are expensive so im steering away from those cams. You think a stock intake and heads id get decent power with a mild cam?

Also looking for muffler recommendations. Not going for loud just mild. Not a fan of chambered stuff unless it sounds really good. Taking suggestions. Looking at magnaflow

I doubt your manifolds rotted away. They may be cracked, or could be ugly and pitted; then you may want to buy replacement manifolds. Then maybe buy ported ones (Jim Rodgers does very nice ones), but I don’t think you want or need ‘headers’. Cam? Go very mild. One or two steps up from stock. Call T/A and be honest about what the car is, has, and how you want to drive. As I said before, you want torque. You don’t need headers, big cam, aluminum intake, etc. You won’t need a roller set up, but you should do the timing set and degree it at install. With a 2 1/2” exhaust the best value for quiet free flowing mufflers is Walker, the 17749 long case.

I meant rotted as the stock in is rotted. I want headers cause they sound and look better. Cant stand the look of manifolds. I never planned on a big cam. Just a decent mild one. I was thinking an aluminum dual plane, just for some better flow, it doesnt hurt.

But this post is also for anybody that may have parts like that available that id be interested in. Most parts i see come up get sold pretty quickly

A low stall converter will make it launch good.
TCI break away converter works very well.
