True story: The very first (i.e., hand built by Fisher Body) Camaro was found similar to this. It was in the yard waiting to be crushed when a worker noticed the VIN tag read N100001. It had been turned into a race car, and they were done playing with it.
You can completely build a first gen Camaro or Mustang straight out of a parts catalog anymore, including the shell. But then you don't have a VIN and get to deal with that hassle. Although these appear to be ridiculously priced compared to what a guy is used to, they're probably worth it for the VIN alone.
