On my 69 GS jack the spring was removed and now I have no idea how it goes back in OR its intent. Any advice is very welcome. Thanks, Mike
I haven't used a bumper jack in over 40 years, but I believe that it hooks on the lever that switches the jack from going up or down. I don't even have a bumper jack to look at.
Ok. Here's a picture. It would likely need to press on the dog/lever that rides on the rack? I feel like a detective. Lol
I'm prepping for a hiking trip right now but if I get a chance (I am being supervised....) I'll take a better picture. All I have on hand is the one below and you can see the spring through the slot. This will give you a general idea at least. I'll try and get a better picture.
Bob, Thanks you much. I'd be interested in another photo post surveillance. Here's the spring I looking to seat. Thanks again, Mike
Hmmm - the one I spotted in my photo is a coil spring. I'm up in the mountains right now but will take a closer look when I get home on Tuesday. Cheers Bob
Yep, last I used mine I had a blow me out on 271, I actually used the bumper jack to change the tire, the tab on the bottom of the arm that catches/grips the bottom of the bumper kept loosing its hold, and BANG, down it would go, FINALLY got the spare on. After that, I put my old scizzors jack in the trunk
Thanks Bob. Yours may be different than mine. Hopefully someone can take a picture looking inward. Thanks all, Mike
OK - back from hiking! Just took a look and I think I have your spring location solved! It looks a little different in shape but I imagine yours has the same purpose. The only other spring I could see is the coil spring inside the main body. Cheers! Bob
