Water is there for a reason, one is to not to smoke your tires away but to simply warm them up, common sense there, number two, water has been used from the beginning of drag racing period, number three, if you don't want water? Fine, If I show up don't exspect me to do what you like! I'll be using something different ;) There is reasons why records fall :( ;)

OHHHhhhh Gary... I think we have all been around this sport long enough to know what water is for....

#2 (which I did this morning) In Pure Stock Racing we have Treaded tires- which the front tires pick up the water as you drive thru it. It then tracks to the line ,runs out onto the track and BAD things happen. Usually we all go around the water-then Back into it if we need it... This Day in question the Gentleman ran the hose long enough to fill a small childs Kiddie pool.. there was no way around it, and it caused a few near misses with the wall for a couple people.

#3... Feel free to come to the Pure Stock Drags , hope you have a ball as Most of us do.. If your considering a traction compound- go for it- It's illegal, But go for it.. We also have this guy that hangs out in a circus tent by the side of the track, He likes to invite people in to tear down their motors after a stellar pass.. Just to Make sure those records don't get handed out to an A$$ clown with a big cube roller motor..
Hope to see you in September- who knows- you to might set a record.. Fastest Bounced out??? :Do No:

That's probably because I was partaking in these events before you started attending. There was a couple races at Quaker, as well as Norwalk that folded, that I seem to remember crossing the Michigan border to get to.

Gas isn't/wasn't my excuse, might not be other peoples excuse either, this post was started to kick start some action on this site......it obviously worked. It would be nice to see some more people chime in. Maybe people have simply lost interest, or they have become unhappy with rules changes, or the way things have evolved?
Maybe people have lost a job, and haven't had the extra play money for travel, or worse, maybe they had to sell their car? I don't know, but a drop in attendance and participation is very noticeable.

As for me going to New York to race, it could happen. Gas isn't the issue this year, wasn't last year, or the year before that either. More like 3 job changes, a major recession, lack of vacation time dictating my past 6 years, but enough about me......................
Now, how many of you people are coming to MICHIGAN!?

Another thought that crossed my mind, why wouldn't Hemmings get involved with this event, and make the Musclepalooza event a traveling event? You've got RT66 in Joliet Illinios, Norwalk, etc. Martin is a pretty damn nice facility that could host a major event like that?

I'd love to make the Martin race, but...
June is hellaciously busy for me. Kids are usually in school until June 21-23 or so, what with all the damn snow days! Then it's off to Vacationland for a little R&R. Oh yeah, I've got to find time to do a little work to make the $$$ to pay for all those leisure activities.

...Then there is that 800 mile tow. (I know that's just a local commute for Hodges, but it's a long way for me!)

This season will be the 13th year in a row that Cannon and I have trucked all over the eastern half of the country to race at, and support, FAST and Purestock racing. Your argument about supporting the class before we showed up, sounds a little like "Peaked in high school" Rob Lowe?

Yeah, the economy has sucked bad, but I'm encouraged by the fact that the numbers have not dropped more. We either stick together as much as we are able, or we can go to our local tune and test nights and run with the scrum.

PS, maybe we could get a water box AND a towel boy from a whorehouse to clean things up afterward. I'm tired of burning up clutches.

I simply answered his question. He said he hadn't seen me, my guess was because he wasn't there, pretty simple answer, don't know where your trying to go with the Rob Lowe thing:puzzled:

Wow, so you are telling me. you can't DRIVE AROUND the water box then back in? What's wrong with your reverse ? I have been around and been drag racing since I was a baby, yes, I grew up in this wonderful world of motorsports ! If that track don't have a wide enough area for you to drive around the water box, then maybe someone should ask them to water a small area for you ;) Common sense does go along way. Remember , Buicks are suppose to be for Gentleman! Oh sorry you guy's say " Buick's are a gentlemen's car's ." Well guess what most gentlemen I know have common sense!

The Rob Lowe thing explained: 12 years running, and he's not seen you anywhere BUT Michigan. Bristol, Commerce, E-town, MIR, Lebanon Valley, Beaver Springs, Cecil, all not in Michigan. The economy sucks just as bad for the east coast and midwest guys.

As to Musclepalloza, the Hemmings staff has been very supportive of our class for nearly 10 years now, including last fall when everybody stayed home during the hurricane threat.

Looking forward to seeing you at Martin this summer, stop by my trailer and we'll have a drink and shoot the breeze.

Sorry for the misconceptions. I wouldve went directly to the track manager and asked for the track owner. Then I would explain to him what is happening ! Most track owners will comply with your request if you explain the dangers of what's going on. I know down here in Arkansas and Memphis , Tennessee they love input and do to please the racers ;) Again, I'm sorry for the miss conception and understand your guys point on driving through water, moisture on the track is a very big danger. I wish all you the best of luck in pure stock racing . Sincerely Gary M.

You know, I went to Stanton, Quaker, Norwalk, Morocco, Kil-kare and 131 to P/S drag race. Norwalk and Bristol for F.A,S.T. tech and even Memphis to crew in the waning days of NMCA stock class.

To be honest I just haven't had a desire to race at an event that isn't P.S. or F.A.S.T. + P/S specific. Just not interested. :Do No: And in the early days Gonzo ran me off by making both my cars illegal in his world anyway.

Looking at the 2015 Musclepalooza spring event, it would be solely a bracket race for me unless qualified for F.A.S.T. shootout........which isn't going to happen. So, long haul for a type of event that happens weekly at the local track.

Again, just not a strong draw,

However, I didn't miss racing once from '97 to '09 or attending from '10 to '14 at Stanton. and only missed attending one year at Norwalk-131 F.A.S.T.+P/S because I closed on my house and had to move.

What? You show up and write FAST on the window then make passes with the rest of the people that wrote FAST on their window.

    Also, Gonzo's days are over

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

I'll have to check the rules. Our '65 Skylark convt. is stock with the exception of staggered sized radials. It's slow, but it would be fun to participate.

If making a few passes is it, still not a big draw. What is the "shootout format?

I am aware Gonzo is over, that's why I said "in the early days". Just making the point his miss guided rules made it a bad start.

I guess the most troubling thing is that it even has to be explained to the track manager or owner at all. You'd think they would be astute enough regarding these safety concerns. Or are the hose guys pretty much, well, hose guys, with no knowledge of racing?
