Just a Quick Introduction

  1. Hi All,

My Grandma left me her 1970 Buick Electra 225 about 20 years ago when she passed. There was some body damage before she finally couldn't drive any more. I didn't do anything with it and it was neglected. It's a huge regret sentimentally.

Anyway... I just pulled to motor and transmission and am going to build it and put it into something else. I'm not sure what to do with the car yet though.

Hopefully I'll learn a lot and be able to contribute one day.

Welcome to the forum! Whatever you put the drivetrain into, someone on here has probably done it before and can give tips. Same for bodywork on the Electra if you’re inclined to fix it. If not, there’s likely a lot of parts on it people on here want or need. Post pictures of the Electra, you may find it easier to fix than you think. Also post your location; it’ll help potential buyers and helpers assess the situation.

  5. Thanks Patrick! I'm here to learn!

I've moved past the Electra. It's been sitting the last few years waiting for me to make a decision and my indecision ended up being a decision. It's dirty, but the interior is in good shape (no rips and tears that I can see) and I'm willing to part it out if anyone is interested.

    I'm North of Seattle .

It looks like it was a well optioned car. Is it rusty? Under the vinyl top? Does it have the emblem in the center of the front bumper? What condition is it in? Disc brakes?

  8. It has some surface rust. Not deep at all. The only really bad rust area is around the bottom of the rear window. There are a couple of dents in the rear quarters. My Grandma wasn't seeing as well before she stopped driving finally. It's not a vinyl top, it's painted white. I don't remember if it was vinal at one time or not. The emblem on the front bumper fell off. I have it though. I'll have to look at it, I haven't looked at it very closely. Drum brakes I believe. I do have the title of someone wants it all.
