Perfect! Some of the stuff I was looking at was like $80/gal. Which is why that part hasn't been done yet. Definitely the way I'm going to go now.

FINALLY , finished up on window frames and got to do some fabricatificating. This job is gonna consist of 21 pieces of aluminum flat stock and maybe 100 or so wood screws. So far today, one piece fitted and screwed in place for a final scribe to cut to shape on the band saw. Probably close to 4 hours and four trim trips back to the shop (only 5 blocks away thank GAWD!) Gotta scribe a bit and then trim a sliver off. Ad Tedium. Extensive use of VIX bits priceless!

So the math comes out to 84 hours, then the TIG welding to tack the assembly in position. Then remove every single screw and remove the assembly as a unit to come home for a final MIG pass and paint, then reinstall with bedding compound. I wanna be done and cruising by June 1... ws

Got home last night at 1600hrs, wiped out. ****, showered and shaved and collapsed on the couch (awake watching some news) while Pat made dinner. She left at 1730hrs for a meeting she runs, so I tuned up with regular evening stuff. I stared at the boob tube until 2100hrs when she got home. Hit the sheets at 2230 and up again at 0300 today. Chicken for dinner last night with corn for the ONLY meal yesterday (thats a regular daily thing) and the "intimidator" (bathroom scale) says "YER KILLING ME! GET OFF NOW!".

I think Im checking myself into a loony bin after this job is done! can this possibly be from the 2.5Mg of Prednisone my doctor has me on? ws

A few years ago I made a comment on the Model T Ford forum about screwing, and all the pseudo holier than thous beat me up. Just a bunch of crotchety old farts over there. Got a late start this morning, at 0900. Had to get the finals done on some window panes (!!). Got them sanded and then 5 coats of Interthane Perfections snow white brushed on. Maybe wait for them to harden overnight and hit them with some 320 for one more coat. I hate being a Virgo!

Had to get home to air up the garden cart for the wife and get the mower going (thought it had a rod knock but it was a loose blade!) and the 20V weedwhacker for a kid in need tomorrow. Always something around here. Boredom isn't even in my vocabulary. ws

Yeah... a quickie sand job with another coat and the frames look like glass; no pun intended Jerry LOL!Got there this morning for a cut-n-scrape for a clean edge, then masked the glass pane off for a caulk bead. I use 3M 5200, which is the bomb! Its a polyurethane caulk that will destroy two pieces of wood if glued and clamped and need to come apart. These guys got the tape edge on the glass and a smidge up onto the white wood. I don't want any water intrusion into these frames again! Finally after 40 years of this, Ive been wearing blue exam gloves that I pay for with medicare so the paws dont look all nasty.

Also made some go-no go gages for the next piece of aluminum. They look good, so I brought the bar home and made the finesse cut at 36-11/16" and am heading back now for a trial fit. Got all 12 fingers crossed! ws

Geoff !!! Need Help!! Send the Cavalary ! That makes 4-1/2 down and 17-1/2 pieces to go. I think about this stupid job all the time and figger tomorrow, Ill get 3 pieces in; HA! Six hours and get a loose fit up. Gonna take a break tomorrow since the day help is coming over; not O.J. but Cameron, an Oneida Indian. Sent him a smoke signal, then the blanky caught on fire, then it rained and the fire went out. The moon and stars finally aligned and we are hooking up.

With all the years of sanding on the wood, some of the angles have changed. The 5053 aluminum 3/16 material is tuff to bend, so I had to relieve it on the band saw and bend it in the vise just a tad. That was another 3 trips back and forth. Only had the BAD LAD out once for 1/2 hour so far in 2018 and 20 minutes on the chopper. I am growingst weary and want to finish! At least the 5053 is soft enough to work with and easy to weld and repair as well... ws

Looking good, Bill. Take an hour or two and take XGS out and enjoy yourself. Always helps me recharge the baterries, even if I just drive one to work and back, I always feel better.

Found a hitch-hiker today below the main deck. Spiders always really like boats, and as long as they stick to the outside, I am fine with that. I keep a short broom at the gang way to swipe webs outta the way if I haven't been aboard for a few days. So, are there any arachnologists on board here? My Injun' helper saw this today and swore it was a black widow. It was about as big as a tick, but hey, its only spring! ws

    No spider guys eh??

Today I layed out and cut probably the most complicated piece of this project. Its the center vertical brace for the double pane windshield. I had to temporarily install the white frames for locations. The white 5200 caulk is still pretty sticky; 3 days later! About 3 hours of laying and scribing it, then an hour trip to the shop for the band saw, and a bit more fore a 95% fit up. This stuff is all getting 100% sanded now, so after welding it'll be a breeze to go over it and paint it.

All the screw locations are accurate + or - 1/8 inch due to other underlying fasteners. The two corners are gonna blow fitting but after that its all flat work. So now its 5 down and 16 to go...

My pals wife is a blonde hottie! ws

Ahem... speaking of shears; Happy Mothers day to all the moms here and the ones that are not with us. I love you mom (and Pat; she's better than a mom to me!)

A measly 5-1/2 hours today and I got a semi final fit on #6 out of 21. Like Im on a roll or something! Taking tomorrow off to launch the little boat and launch and move three 12 foot sections of floating docks up river a few blocks. The sections get bolted together and chained to the main dock. One step closer.

Time for Fear the Walking Dead! ws

Got the docks moved yesterday! Only a short 5 hour day. Im glad it was only a few blocks with running the boat and chase car back and forth. I was 25 feet away from the final landing with #3 and hit a stick in the river (probably from a ll the recent rain we had) and the motor stalls. I thought I busted the shear pin, but the 'ol Neverude fired right back up and continued to the grand finale.

The helper finally dropped something in the river. Kinda Mea Culpa as I never bring good tools when working over water. It was a fine tooth Japanese ratchet with nice chrome and a crappy chinasocket (3/4") that had a lousy grip. He said he'll go fishing (off the clock!) for it with a speaker magnet on a string today. If he finds it, Im buying lunch at CrackArnolds! ws
