Just spent 1000 miles in a Regal TourX

Went to my son's grad school graduation in GA in my sister's new TourX. Nice car! Glad "station wagons" may be coming back rather than SUVs that are really just jacked up wagons. But station wagons name seems to get in the way.....anyway it is longer than previous Regals. Seems like perfect size....not too big but not cramped like a lot of cars and SUVs these days.
Wasn't crazy about the lane holding feature but it can be easily turned off. Felt like I had a low tire.
The distance feature was great with cruise on....worked seamlessly.
The auto stop start I didn't like....would shut car off just as light was about to change. The problem was we couldn't find anything in the owners manual about it and how to turn it off. She got one of the first ones so maybe manual was not updated.
8 speed trans worked surprisingly well....always seemed to be in the right gear....seems to rely on gears now rather than torque converter to fill the space between gears. Shifting wasn't annoying or noticeable. I like firm shifts but I guess I'm olde school.....
We averaged 33 mpg for the trip. Giant sunroof is cool....maybe wrong word to use since I could see it adding to heat load but there is a retractable cover.
Seats a bit firm for my liking but it seems the way cars are going. My 99 Regal and 96 Roadmaster seats seem better on long trips. My skinny ass was going to sleep after a while in the TourX.

Anyway....great car IMO....might want to check it out.

I looked into buying one. The local dealers (3) expected to get one “any day now” for over 6 months. I got tired of waiting and bought a 2018 Colorado Z-71 Crew Cab. Since I got it, I haven’t seen a single one of these advertised where I live, nor have I seen one on the street. I really wanted to test one out, too.

Yeah, I've never seen another one yet. Seemed to get a lot of looks on the trip. Looks good from all angles. Her's doesn't have that funky roof rack that they show on TV ads. Mistake to show it only that way as many people will be quick to put it down not realizing that it is an option.

I read the Motor Trend link and the car came off even better than the write up in Car and Driver, although the common complaint was the interior. I think that it’s a sharp looking car and I also tried to see one at a dealer but they could not have been much more apathetic about the car. Most of the Buick dealers around here are paired with GMC so they are more interested in selling the higher profit trucks and suvs rather than a relatively low volume car like this. “I think we might have one somewhere on the lot. If not we should be getting one soon”. Really surprising to hear from someone selling cars for a living.

I tested one and really liked it. Very close, but went for an ATS-V instead. Joy as V has 464 hp and 445 ft-lbs torque, like a Wildcat 445.
