IF IT EVER STOPS FREAKIN' RAINING, I'd be glad to do that! :Dou:

Maybe you want to be here. Dryest spring in 50 years. We had less than 1/4 inch of rain all year so far. Maybe you read about the dust storms. I'd trade you in no time for some rain on a regular basis. Being this dry really sucks. And if you think being dry keeps the cars clean, think again. Every day they are covered with a layer of dusty dirt from the air.

    Caps arrived here! Thanks!!!! :beer

Also, new brake hard lines made it here today.

On a downside, the canopy I set-up over the car couldn't handle the volume of rain and collapsed! My brother called to tell me this, but he doesn't think the car suffered too much. I hope not, but I'll have to check it out. :(

I would trade you the rain for the hail storms and tornados we had. The hail stripped the leaves and flowers. Even killed birds. They had no place to go.

Ken , too bad about your temp. shelter i hope the cat is OK, it could be lots worse. Many folks are much worse off because of this monsoon. I am going nuts I just got my cat registered and it has done nothing but rain since then :af: . My pool is nearly overflowing and was down well over a foot on friday!
Glad the cap made it there . I just saw your thread regarding the brake master cylinders ; you have the Moraine. I just went through the same deal at the parts counter a month ago and did the research in the 66 chassis manual. I hope that helps , let me know how the swap to the dual circuit master goes. Hey I wanted to let you know that I did the 2.5 exhaust and it came out great. I got the flowmaster "u-fit" kit and spent a couple of days getting it assembled and man did it come out nice. I did have some frustration but all in all it was a pretty easy deal. I would go with the 2.25 inch if i had to do it again though. I used dynomax super turbo's and 2.5 inch cherry bombs in place of the resonators , nice and quiet on the inside and a real low rumble in back but nothing you wouldn't drive to church. I would leave off the cherry bombs if you want some bark to it. You really need a welder to do it but if you don't have one we can get it done next spring at yardley's cook out.

Ken, please elaborate on the shelter and its demise.

What was the shelter made from? Did you get to see the 'Cat yet? WE NEED ANSWERS! Any damage? Just water and a tarp? Or did supports come down and dent the 'Cat?

Yardley, the shelter was the exact one I set up at your picnic. I had lashed it to a fence and set up several tie-downs and stakes for wind. It seems that the top surface collected water and the frame bent under the weight. With the pitch and support of the frame, I never would have imagined that would happen, but it did.

I have a function to attend at my daughters school at 7, but will try to get to my mother's to assess damage, if any, prior to then. My brother did not see any dents, but I would think scratches could be a possibility.

    I will report back.

No real damage, just a couple of surface scratches that compounded out. :bglasses:

    Tom-

Do you have headers on your Cat or did you fab downpipes to meet up with the universal kit? I was checking it out on the Summit site and it refers to it as cat back.

Ken , good to hear there was no real damage. I have the manifolds and looked at a bunch of web sites for down pipes , the closest I could find was Torque Tech . They had a " U- Fab" down pipe kit that looked close but not quite correct. I am presently using the 2 inch compression bent pipes that came on the car from the manifold to the flowmaster kit. If I keep the manifolds I will have to upgrade the down pipes , if I go to headers I think TA has down pipes that will work . Check the flowmaster web site (check under new products) they have some good detail illustrations that show you the individual pipes that you get in the kit. I needed 2 additional 4 foot lengths of pipe to get everything buttoned up as the cat is a lot bigger than the kit accomodates. The biggest difficulty is the assymetrical offsets on the transmisson crossmember cutouts. I had to cut one of the pipes in the middle of the bend and remove about 2 inches to reduce the amount of offset to align with the cutouts. I never installed the balance tube , with the carrier bearing for the drive shaft I couldn't decide where to put it so for now I am going with out. I can get some pics for you when the weather clears and I can get the skylark out of the garage to make some room.

I checked out the flowmaster site and downloaded the pdf file. While I am not a welder, I know a few guys that are, so I can get the system welded up. When you said you'd go with the 2.25 system if you did it again, I assume you mean for fitment reasons? I have a set of Walker long case mufflers in 2.5 that I'd like to utilize, so 2.5 would be preferred. I would think the nailhead would prefer the 2.5 also. No?

Pictures would be great. I hope you aren't floating up there! It's actually sunny here at the moment. Yesterday afternoon it cleared up, but I think more rain is on the way....

Ken , If you already have the mufflers then I would go for the 2.5 inch . That is why I went with the 2.5 inch. The car had some flowmaster mufflers that i was going to reuse until I got into the installation and realized that I needed the offset inlet and outlet and the flowmasters were center outlet. :Do No: Looking at the PDF file, the pipes marked 26067 were where I had to cut and paste , the drivers side i cut out the straight run between the 45 degree bends and ran the bends directly together.
We are also getting some sun today so I should be able to get a few pics , I will also try to scan the diagram from the chassis manual for reference.

    2.5 Exhaust

    Hi Ken,
I'm not real big on BIG exhaust, but I have put a 2.5" mandrel bent on my Riv with good seat of the pants results over the original size exhaust and a (riv) GS style stainless exhaust that had one of those crossover 2 in 2 out mufflers.
My Super Wildcat Wildcat Convertible feels great (strong) with the 2.5" (non mandrel + H pipe) but is really kind of loud with the mufflers I had put on (Magnaflow straight thru and 29" long).
I love the tone of the Riv with the Super Turbo long case mufflers.
I've got another Wildcat 401 with a 2.25" exhaust system, short super turbos and it sounds good too. That one has a weak engine, but I would not blame the exhaust for that.

I was wondering if someone would see and get my avatar.

    Ted-

The mufflers I have are the Walker Dynomax Super Turbo long cases model 17749, so they should be the same as what you put on your Riv. I'm glad to hear that you like the sound. I definitely don't want obnoxious in my "gentleman's musclecar", but I do want it to sound more like a Wildcat than a Pussycat.

Well! It took nearly a month, but this thread finally made it to page 3!

I spoke to Ken today as he was tooling around in the 'Cat. He drives the WHEELS off this baby!

It took an old lady 40 years to put on 27,000 miles, it took me a week and a half to put on another 800! I'm loving it! I can't go anywhere without someone walking up and asking about it. :bglasses:

Ken , take a look at this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&rd=1&item=4640409676&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT . It says that it is for a 430 but I never saw anything that looked more like a nailhead quadrajet intake . The carb even has the correct side inlet, the whole deal looks very much like the set up on my cat. I think you should buy this , get the qjet rebuilt and end the problems you are having with your carb for good. Given the way it is listed you could snipe this for reasonable money and it is in Connecticut so you could pick it up and save on shipping. Go get it!!!!!!

That's a nailhead manifold if I ever saw one.

Good idea here. Have Osborne rebuild the carb.

Ken's fuel inlet is in the front, but that's nothing a couple of 90* fittings couldn't cure.

    I'm sure the 465 means 425ci (nailhead).
