the Pro touring section is open. lets see whos up to what...... my car isnt a true pro touring car, meaning I dont have 40k laying around to put into it:laugh: I had it for sale, sold the wheels off it, and went through a divorce. I managed to keep it and Im going to get back after it now that I got rid of the person who was spending all my money. Its a 70 GS 455, no air bench seat. I have 4 wheel disc brakes for it and Hotchkis springs. Heres some pictures with the 18s on it before my life crisis. Im thinking about the same wheels or maybe 17s so the brakes dont look so small. Im planning on eventually painting it white with GSX striping and all black trim. And I really want one of Craigs hoods if he ever gets more made. This year will be just installing the new interior I have for it, straightend out the body, and get it to sit right with the new wheels and tires......

Maybe a sticky is in order. I started my pt car back in 1987 when I bought my 70 GS455 from the original owner. Back then my good friend bought an 87 IROC Z. And I wanted my car to do everything his car would. I installed HO Racing springs and sway bars. At that time I put a 12 bolt posi with 3.31 gears. I then installed 4 wheel disc brakes replacing the 4 wheel drums. Back then I put GTA 16" wheels. Right now I have p225/60R16 front and p295/50R16 rear. I have p255/35R20 front and p295/30R20 rear. I have plans to install a 4l60e also. I just bought pwr windows to install. I am also putting the A/C back on the car.

Well I would put up some pictures but mine is no where close to being pro-touring. It is slowly working toward it but.

Sounds like my car, dont be shy guys, we all have vision. Post up no matter what it looks like now, nothing wrong with a works in progress picture. To my knowledge there are only a dozen or so cars on the board that are finished so lets see it no matter what, you saw my pile lol

Here is my 1965 Buick Skylark. I was not sure if it would meet the pro-touring specs but it will meet a lot of them. The car is a basic V6 post model that came with manual brakes and steering. Has a bench seat and pretty much a basic model. I have posted a picture of it when I bought it. Some one along the line has upgraded the wheels and added power brakes with front discs. The car is white with a blue interior. When I am done it will look pretty much as in the picture. I am going to paint it a pearl white going with a Lexus Starfire pearl. About the whitest pearl I have seen. Wheels will look pretty much like those in the picture but 17".

I will be adding rear disc brakes and power steering using the Jeep Grand Cherokee steering box. I will also be converting from the bench seat to bucket seats(stock style) with a picture of one of them shown. The basic goal is to keep the car pretty much stock on the exterior and inside. However I be modifying the gauges to Speedhut and upgrading the radio and speakers. Also adding air conditioning.

The power train will be a 6.2L L92 out of a 2009 Escalade and keeping the VVT. I have the heads CNC'd and a VVT-3 camshaft from Texas Speed and Performance. Also a LS3 intake manifold and ported LS3 throttle body. I am hoping for 475rwhp and over 25mpg on the highway. The 6L80 transmission will have the Corvette tune installed. This will allow me to easily added paddle shifters if I want.

Rear end is out of a 1971 Skylark with 30 spline axles and Eaton Positraction. Going with 3.23 gears do to the overdrive and low first gear of the 6L80. Should be cruising in the 1900-2000 rpm range at 65-70mph. Edelbrock upper control arms and boxed lower control arms. Stock springs. UMI braces between the control arms.

Front has the tubular upper and lower control arms with disc brakes as mentioned. Keeping the V6 springs. Nothing special with 11" disc front and rear brake rotors. I plan on having 1 degree negative camber, 5 degrees castor and 1/16" toe in.

Wheels and tires will be American Racing VN500 wheels and Nitto 555 tires. Front will be 8" x 17" with 5.25" backspacing. Rear will be 9.5" x 17" with 6.375" backspacing. Tires will be 255/45ZR17 in front and 285/40ZR17 in the rear. Here are some pictures showing the car as bought, motor fresh from the junkyard and the same for the transmission. Also a picture of the rear inner fender work required to clear the 285 tires and then a picture of one of the bucket seats.

sounds like it does to me

hell my setup is stock 11 in rotors with wilwood d52 2 pisions AL calipers with 94-96 Impala d614 pads
rear is 11inch disc with d154 pads/1 piston calipers via right stuff detailing
I wanted better disc setup but with option to switch back and fourth from 15s to 17..hell im actually rocking 14in steelies all around at the moment LOL
wilwood even has 1 and 2 piston aluminum d154 calipers if you even want to swap out the cast single piston calipers that come with the rear disc kit..I may do this to ditch my e-brake style calipers

    Stg1Regal Yep Traction Issues!:)

Welp here ya go.... Mine is a 82 Regal yep a G-body, now with a 87 front header panel and 87 Taillights, now looks like an 87.

A 71 Buick 455, stock, with the exception of Headers 1 7/8" primaries, 3" collectors true 2.5" duals into Flowmaster 44's with turndowns. An Edlebrock dualplane intake, 71 stock q-jet, 76 HEI with Pertronics FlameThrower up grade kit on it.

For cooling a Cotton Performance 3 row radiator and a GN electric cooling fan, heater and A/C delete with homemade firewall delete plate.

GN also donated a drive shaft and it's 8.5 rearend 3:42 Posi, from a GN,2800 Stall"REDSTRIPE" lockup torque converter(made my own lock up brakeswitch and a lock up 2nd and 3rd gear switch),10 vane pump, harden stator, "Blue Plate"kevlar clutches, wider 1st & 2nd gear bands. That was a few years back. Maybe even a deeper pan for more fluid , for better cooling and an extrenal trans cooler.

For the Pro-Touring approach, I went with all the frame chassis stiffeners I could get and now put on, so I have a Grand Prix cross brace, and the two jounce bars that run from the engine cradle crossmember attaching to the front frame horns, along with the Grand Prix bar kinda gives the front frame a triangulation stiffening, the X-brace in front of the radiator that ties the upper and lower radiator supports together, home made front and rear frame horn stiffeners (out of old bed rails) they tie the outer ends of the frame horns together from side to side ( in my case using the same mounting bolts and locations that my bumper mount to).
Also up front under the hood I have the fender to Radiator support bars, now needing to get the GNX style X- braces for behind the rear of the rear seat.

I have seen in some G-body cars like the late 70's and early 80's Grand Prix's and some wagons 2 bars that went from the top of the firewal center , outwards towards the hood adjusters.. dont know if I will get them or not.

Steering::: Upgraded to a 12:7 to 1 ratio GN steering box, and a JeepGrand Cheerokee steering shaft, eliminating that nasty rag joint, (noticable upgrade there) no slop and if in a wreck COLLASAPABLE!!

Suspension:: Poly all around on stock arms, GN front and rear Sway bars. New front end rebuild, with what are supposed to be some Olds G-body 307 front springs, dunnno... they are stiff as hell, can bearly push down on the front end (and Im a big guy), no idea on the rear springs, got them off a friend because they raised my rear enuf to clear my 28" tall tires.

Brakes are pretty new , but stock disc drum combo.

Current tire and wheel combo ... 205/60/15 on the front and 275/60/15 on the rear both mounted on GN rims.

As for upgrades, as of now and in the works, a set of 90's Blazer ZQ8 Spindles (these are a a removeable hub and bearing design) so your rotors come off with out regreasing the bearings each time, the benifits in its stock form other than its a direct bolt on to a G body since the S-10 chassis and it share the same chassis componets, it's a larger diameter rotor and a 2-piston caliper, then from there if you want more ,buy the adapter bracket from www.flynby.com for a c5-c6 vette caliper and its 13" rotor, and bolt on ..no cutting or drilling.

As for the rears been researching that one can pull a PBR rear disc set up from a early 90's F-body and trim the axle flange and drill a couple extra holes then boom rear disc....But also from www.flynby.com brackets that mount the axle flange to hang C5-C6 calipers and Rotors and you just got to drill the 2 holes.
With both the STOCK disc brake upgrades I can run 15" rims even my GN rims, whereas with the C5-C6 upgades I definately have to have 17"s at the least.

Now for the suspension.... the lower front arms... gonna leave em as is. the Uppers will be either UB machine or Speedway Motors tubular arms with greasable solid Bushings.. (read inexspensive ) with a taller upper ball joints, and taller lower Ball joints on the lower.
    Better negative camber !!!
    A 36 mm front swaybar from a 80's-90's F body.
A billet style outer tierods with heims/ and bumpsteer upgrade kit both from SpeedwayMotors and all this attaches to those ZQ8 Spindles with no mods.

For the rears... Im torn.. But I like to stay local, so my trailing arms may come from northern IN supplier Builder, with 1" roto- joints, (not 7/8") , for a reasonable price for upper and lower package. I do have the upper and lower trailing arms mounting area frame stiffening kits from HR Parts & Stuff.

The rear sway bar will probaly be from DSE.

Would love to, if money and time allow , remove the body and box in the frame, and add some more lateral cross frame stiffners, one before the lower control mounts, and doubles as a another drive shaft safety loop, and one between the rear shock mount locations using the shock bolt holes and triangulate it to mount to the rear coil spring crossmember.
I do have a G-Force Dual Hump Trans crossmember , it helps stiffen up the frame some...

Shocks, springs , wheels and tires.. just dont know yet.

Would like to stick with 15" rims and tire like NASCAR did and still does. would kill to have Ridetech Coilovers and 17 " rims and tires in all four corners, so a set of Bilstein shocks will be in the to do list , and some springs.. a good friend of mine gave a list of G-body coil springs that would help my Budget style build.

So yep its a Budget style Build....

Pretty sure ive seen a video of this car doing autox over at pt.com
one of the reasons why i sold my spherical setup for DSE, that and DSE seemed like they were over overwhelmingly the top dog on the PT scene.
I love those wheels, but 3 piece rims are to rich for my blood

    Mike,
So your set up works with the 14" steelies? I wonder if it would with my 14" spyders. I am also looking for bette brakes on for the wagon.

Well here is mine in its humble beginnings stage it is a 350-4 which actually runs pretty damn good! Plans are:

    DSE front and rear setup
    Kore 3 DB setup
LS1 with 6 Speed (already sitting in the garage)
18" Wheels and tires (unsure at the moment)
Vintage Air (tThe car is a factory air car all mechanicals are working, just will not fit the "look" i'm trying to achieve)
    Power windows
    Push button start
I have started already by removing the factory bench and installing buckets

these pics were taken at the sellers house
