I feel better about that because I couldn't find anything to make me think it was not.

LOL!! Im surprised the guy didn't hang up on you! I would of!

Think about it....some stranger shows up at your house from who knows where and wants to give you an out of state check for your car. You would really hand your keys off to him? How do you know the check is really good? They forge those all the time. When I sell a car, it doesn't leave my driveway till I have Benjamin Franklin and his brothers in hand.

So you take 16k out of your account? So what? its your money and you can do whatever you like with it. The bank secrecy Act was created to stop money laundering. So if your not a criminal, your good to go. If it was a crime to buy a car in cash, I'd be on death row

If your uncomfortable carrying that large of a sum of money, bring a friend.

I usually bring my two friends...Smith & Wesson or their cousin, Mr. Glock.

Over the past year I have purchased several cars for over $10K cash and just went to my Wells Fargo bank and told the teller what I wanted. I told them I was buying a car and needed cash. There was not problem but the tellers know me and that I have a classic car collection so that may have made a difference. I was not a Joe Blow stranger who walked in off the street.

Should be no problem, it is your money.

Good answer. When I was flipping cars, I always carried cash. Still do when buying a car or any other mdse from private parties. But, I am always armed and prefer to not be alone.

In MI, it's called a CPL (Carry Pistol License). You are required to take a class from a licensed instructor. Then you must register with the County Clerk and the local PD. There are some places and venues where you are not allowed to carry.

I hope someone grabs this Buick.

I called him and suggested a bank to bank transfer. No problem, he gets cash at the bank if all goes well, and I don't get shot in the back and buried in shallow grave.

I hope the car checks out well and you wind up with it. Keep us posted. Good luck!

as an FYI, this car has been for sale for several months, I wouldn't be surprised if someone from this board has already checked it out and passed on buying it. IIRC, in the previous ads he didn't have it running yet, and I think it was priced at $17,500.

I don't know that I would consider it a "great" deal, given that it needs floor pans and trunk floor has holes and frame has rust. Wouldn't be surprised if it had body rust that needed fixing and also a new paint job.

I have not seen the car personally, and don't know it, but I did have a customer of mine from WI who was interested in buying it last year. Had cash ready to go, ended up not pulling the trigger, I can give you his email if you wish. I am not certain on this, but I think he saw it in person.

And yes, I do offer a check out service, for a small fee to cover my time. It gives you the basics on numbers, condition and my general evaluation on the car.

Try to get him to take a pic of the Cowl tag and the VIN tag on the upper dash. He seemed a little vague when I asked him what numbers were on the dash tag and he said the numbers on the cowl tag were very hard to read. Make sure his cowl and dash tags match his title just to be safe.

I was actually curious what concealed carry weapon you have. Im looking for something smaller than my G19.

Currently I have pistol permits from Utah, Florida, NY and Conn
