Gary-yes, it is. Not sure if it's original. Should I look at getting a new one or just shorten this one?
Well, I am really loving this post. The Exhaust system looks great, As well as all your work. Its going to be a nice ride. Thanks for more inspiration.
Richard- Thanks very much. It's been a lot of fun. As I said, it's sad now that I'm finished with the chassis work. Now I'll be working on interior parts to get them ready to install when the body work and paint is complete. How is your car coming along? Randy
Your still going to have a blast with the interrior. And your really going to have fun when you fire up that new engine. I had eye corrective surgery on my left eye a few weeks ago but for the last few days I started hacking away at the trunk floor pan. I originally was only doing the chassis and removing all the old undercoat from the underbody, then rust removel, repainting and going back with a new protective coating of some kind. But after several hours under the car body with a Needle Scaller removing the old undercoat I started finding too many rust holes in the trunk pan. Turns out the pan had pin holes hidden by body calk and bondo. They did not show till I started cleaning. I ordered a pan kit from The Parts Place and will be relplacing the entire pan. I will post pics on my Tread as soon as I have it all cut out. Thanks for asking. Hope to see more or yours soon.
Update. I loaded up the completed chassis today and took it to gsjo at his shop here in NE Ohio. It's now in the hands of the master. They did a fantastic job on the bodywork- and there was a lot of it! Many rust areas to be repaired- rear wheelhouses, lower qtrs, cowl section. They will paint the underside first, then test fit the doors, front fenders and hood before painting. The body looks like new now. He'll be posting pics on his JC Autobody thread soon. They were block sanding the body today- hopefully start painting next week sometime. I guess now I really have to get organized to start work on the interior. I've ordered replacement wire harnesses from OPG (they use M&H). Randy
Everything looks like its going real good, very nice job on the chassis and Joe does great work. Louie
Update. Check out the JC Autobody and Collision posting in the vendor's section to see a bunch of pictures of my car in various stages of the bodywork. Joe is a master with the welder and bodywork and his guys do fabulous work. It was a HUGE project, but it was very important to me to keep the original body shell for the car. It was much more labor this way, but it turned out great. The paint looks fantastic. I hope to bring it home next week sometime. Can't wait to start the reassembly.
Can you post the information on the Chevell parts you used to make this repair as well as the modifications you made?? Or send it to me directly. P.S. I can't figure out how to upload a picture. Thanks JC
Bastian- thanks for the good words. I'm planning on picking up the car from the bodyshop on Friday. Can't wait to see it finished and start on the rest of the installation. I'll post more pics when I get it home. Randy
Update-I finally brought the car home from JC Autobody on Friday. Joe and his guys did an outstanding job on the bodywork and paint. It's absolutely first class inside and out. The paint is 1968 Code R, Scarlet Red. The interior will be black bucket seats with a black conv. top. I'm working on the grill/ core support area now. I'll work my way from front to back as I work to finish the car. Engine bay wiring and engine hookups are next.
Randy, Thank you very much for your trust and business. If you are happy we are happy. We enjoyed the battle!:beer Please keep us in the loop.Joe
Work progresses on the front end. Radiator cross bracing, hood latch and support, headlight bucket install.
I have seen this car in its current form and she sure is pretty! I think you and Joe have done a great job so far and I look forward to seeing her progression.
LOOKING GOOD, RANDY. Your almost there. I guess you will be starting on your interrior soon ? Looking forward to more pics.
