probably time to unload the '02 camry ( or keep it for a winter car ) . been looking at a few dif choices but i have concentrated sorta on the lesabre . there's sportier choices but - solid , quality , gas mileage , comfort etc makes sense . I am upstate NY , been looking from south PA down to like Lexington KY and north Carolina and in between to give you an idea on distance . but a REAL pretty pale green low mileage unit in texas . that's a drive . contacted one guy between lower catskill's and NYC , on CL 4 days , sold . less than 75K miles ( have seen quite a few in the 50-60 range ) , clean , NO rust underneath , no bondo or accidents , good service history . kinda lookin for the garaged one owner grand parents kinda ride . no rush . i'm not gonna drive it home in salty slop anyway . just lookin for leads etc . fair money for a good ride .
well , have had a little luck checking CL . real nice white '04 lesabre with 38K on 'er . also checked a nice lookin one owner '03 i think grand prix 3.8 super motor with about 70K . they are out there i guess . was also checking nice low mile regals , same era . those are not out there . and i was checking from eastern CT - hudson valley - NJ - allentown and harrisburg - NC and kentucky etc . one in louisville , KY .
How much are you seeing them priced at? I've got my 91 year old aunts 2000 with 30,000 on it. Not ready to sell yet, but would like to know where they are priced.
lesabre ? 2001 - 2005 . see them from about $3000 - $6000 max depending upon miles ( 35K - 75K approx ) , condition , service history and ownership etc . i've been checking lower northeast ( south PA , CT ) down to lexington , ky and charlotte , nc . edit : just saw one in texas , e-bay , 65K , $6950 . nice , not sure if that nice ?
Yes, 2000 LeSabre. First year of that generation. It's a nice car, could use a polish and wax. New tires (had the original on!!!!), new battery, etc. Grandma gold LeSabre Custom with the cloth buckets. Right now needs a headliner (don't they all?). Just turned 30,000 miles. I'm driving it very little just to keep it loosened up. Can't let it go until something happens to Aunt Polly.....she still likes to take a ride sometimes. Zero rust...Kentucky car. Thanks for the info.
might be going to check out a few next week . 4-5 cars in harrisburg area . the other direction is CT/MASS area . looking over those , also pre 2015 chrysler 200's . kinda likin' those . a little newer , a little better size for the wife . couple nice 'vert's too . but she's cheap , she might like going lesabre and saving $5-$7K .
oh man , lost the 38K 'sabre . was going down in a day or two but someone put deposit money down on 'er . edit : looking at a real clean 98 regal - 21000+ miles . that's kinda too low but --- .
Not mine, but here's a clean looking 2002 for $1200. I could go look at it if it's something you'd be interested in, I know it's far away and maybe more miles than you want. https://missoula.craigslist.org/cto/d/2002-buick-lesabre/6496944029.html
Unless you are set particularly on the lesabre, you may search park avenue or bonneville....they are all basically the same. I would avoid any supercharged 3800,but the park avenue is a nicer car in the same price range. For some reason the Buicks appear more often as low milers than the Pontiacs.
I’d be less afraid of a supercharged Park Avenue than a non SC, just because of the plastic intake problems (or was that fixed by ‘01? My MIL’s ‘98 failed twice.) A lot of wealthy old folks bought Ultras and drove them like, well, retirees drive Buicks. I’d avoid all the Chryslers you listed, especially the 200, Sebring, Sebring convertible, and even more any with the 2.7. I’d avoid any Chrysler that’s not rwd with a 5.7. Patrick
Yep , miles and distance not good . Thanks . I'm ok with some Chrysler lines , worked parts at a dealership for 20+ . Between parts trucks and my own always seemed to get good miles out of them . Wife's not into the bigger stuff . Even the lesabre is a stretch but she's cheap so the pricing is reeling her in . The regal is a good choice but not quite as available . And I did some quick head math , those 01-05 choices are going to be thinning out quick going by retirement age purchases and year of manufacture .
Low miles regal - gone . Really nice 03 lesabre , great miles , but almost $6K . Figured it would be available awhile . Email etc back n forth with the guy . Nice guy . Available on CL less than a week , 3 people looking at it before I can get there - one is flying in ( edit : from Iowa ) to buy it ? Really , flying in , for an 03 lesabre . Jeez . edit : just contacted a guy with a car that was in mass . 2001 61K , one owner , said underneath rust situation was "pretty good" . maybe we'll see , he's supposed to put it up on lift and take some pics . body looks great . have also started checking out some 06 - 08 Lucerne's ? still the 3.8 V6 , lowish mile units are out there . look ok - good ? bad ? problems ? build quality ?
I bought an 06 lucerne after a deer t-boned my 2000 park avenue and totaled it. Nice looking car but not half the car the Park Avenue was. Bought mine from a one owner and have had several issues with it. One is a random tranny issue that pops up every 6 weeks or so. Several small issues. Gas mileage is worse, only get 26 hwy. Maybe the later ones are better. Keep an eye on the roanoke va craigslist.
Kerry , saw PM , replied . thanks thanks for other info also Ronnie , pretty detailed . might be looking at a 06 Lucerne shortly . one owner , clean , 21k . I do kinda prefer the 01 - 05 lesabre's but that mileage might be too good to pass up . plus the car is sorta close .
chris , not bad for the $$ . front fender ding and a couple scuff marks but decent . my daughter and family live out there . just a short drive !
