This thread makes me wonder about my 2014 Cadillac ATS 4. 2.0T AWD. I bought it used but bought the bumper to bumper 100k warranty. The dealer I bought it from had to replace the Nav Screen on it and didn't give me any crap. So will see if it give me any hell mechanically. I have 46k on it with no issues yet.
I drive the snot out of it and it has held up so far. It is quick for what it is 5.4 to 60 MPH. I can tell it prefers pump premium. Give it 87 and it has some turbo lag. It doesn't like tight u turns under hard throttle. I am guessing due to the all wheel drive set up. I bought it as a lease trade in for 25k out the door with all the extra warranty dealer throw ins. I gave them hell on my trade in and walked away twice before we landed on what I wanted the 3rd time around. It had 28500 on the clock so I have almost logged 20,000 miles without incident mechanically. I guess if it poops out I'll work over the stealership and force there hand to fix it. The dealership so far has had great customer service. I'll play nice until they try and screw me.

I have a Ford Explorer Sport AWD 3.5 Ecoboost as well. Same deal lease trade in, Paid for the Warranty. Ford house tried to fight me on some repairs covered in the bumper to bumper warranty. Called Ford USA. Took some time but after the process went through the dealership has bent over backwards to make sure my needs are met. The power of diplomacy and tact goes a long way strong arming the corporate jerks in to doing what is right. It's a PITA but you just have to learn how to make them your puppet not the other way around. I had the same issues with Hyundai with my wife's old car, wnet as far as blasting them on social media and contacting Hyundai USA. They fixed the issues and I got free oil changes and tire rotations for a whole year. Hyundai America wanted me to remove my negative posts. I negotiated my terms of how they could make it right.

If it were me seeing what I see. Go with a CTS 3.6 in rear wheel drive. Probably a safe bet. Good luck.

The engine in the 2011-2013 Regals (LHU) are almost totally different from the ones produced from 2014+ (LTG). The LHUs are pretty good engines and aside from some timing chain issues are fairly reliable. The LTG may have been fixed in 2016 and newer cars but it is not known for sure. GM has issued a TSB for the problem and it is believed the piston design was changed.

The 3.6 is a pretty good engine. The basic platform has been around for a long time and the power it makes is fairly conservative so it is not stressed like a 270hp turbo 4 would be. The new 2017 Buick Lacrosse and the upcoming 2018 Regal GS use the 3.6L engine. I drove a Lacrosse as a loaner car and it was pretty peppy. Not as much low end grunt compared to the turbo 4, but up top it pulls pretty hard for a mid level luxury sedan.

Heated steering wheel comes on the regal also. I love that option.
Wife drives a 2014 Regal Turbo Premium 1. Had it about a year now, 40K on it now, roughly? Only complaint is the fuel gauge dosent Alwyn go all the way to full, sometimes stops at 7/8 or so.
Any used car is a crap shoot, who knows how it had been treated prior.

It -24 degree here today. That 56 degrees below freezing and a heated steering wheel is a sweet option. I also like the cool seats in the summer.
