    Didn't Bob Gibbs have a 70 black/black car a couple years ago?

Yes, had. Owned it a couple of times I think. Wasn't a Stage 1 though. The video still pops up on Youtube for me occasionally when I do a search for 1970 Buicks.

I do remember that now. When they had more pictures the emblem(s) appeared to have colored in with a bristle paint brush, the fuel system has rubber tubing spliced in with a risky aftermarket fuel filter, the duct from the heat collector in attached with black electrical tape, etc. These things are correctable but seeing things like this concern me.

It would definitely need a good once over.

Especially, now that I'm recalling a bunch of pictures another member sent me a few months ago.

Either way, if it's not a total rot box and ALL the numbers check out - and someone can get Sloan or Roberts documents - it seems along the lines of what John is looking for.

  9. I owned that dang car three different times and I finally got smart and sold it to somebody clear on the other side of the country so I couldn't Own It Again.

I just messaged them via their messaging service. This is what I asked, and we'll see what happens........

Hi, Does this have power steering? All #'s matching? Do you have documentation for Stage 1, 1 owner and mileage?

OK Brett.....so what do I have to do to make sure this car is ligit? 26,xxxx miles on the odometer, but what on the car? Why I wonder, would it have a non ram-air, air cleaner? I didn't see an asking price, or did I miss it? What do you think this is worth?

Brett, why would someone put that incorrect air cleaner on the car? Raises a LOT of concern? Also, I suppose it needed new chrome rims and rubber, and they just went cheap with new white wall tires, steel rims and wheel discs. That I can understand, but I'm having a hard time with the rational regarding that air cleaner? Weirds me out!

Me too Jim.......like why? Especially to that air cleaner!

That air cleaner is the correct one, it's just missing the fiberglass part that gives the effect of "ram air". Easy fix.

As for what you're looking for:

*1112016 is the distributor number - date code should fall within a few weeks of the build date.

*7040246 is the Q-Jet number - same date code situation as mentioned above.

Block should have the VIN stamped on the front (I believe) and the "SS" code on the block between the back two spark plugs on the driver's side.

Non-air car will have a 3.64 rear with "ON" stamped on the axle tube.

As for documentation, unfortunately it looks like you'll have to go ahead and contact Sloan or Wayne Roberts on your own if you want to get that done, as the seller hasn't made any mention of any paperwork.

That documentation will also tell you which wheels came with the car. If you're serious, calling the place might be a more viable option and if you talk to someone, ask for more pictures - especially of the undercarriage.

I don't think the car is "for sale" right now, it is going to be part of their auction next month, and it is being advertised now (for the last couple of months) to build interest.

    The Silver car was at Hershey last year, late summer, asking price was $42,500. Then it went to ebay, I can't recall what it sold for, but I think mid to high 30's? here are a few pictures from last year. 1970 Buick GS stage 1 001 silver 26k.JPG 1970 Buick GS stage 1 002 - Copy - Copy - Copy - Copy.JPG 1970 Buick GS stage 1 004 - Copy - Copy - Copy - Copy.JPG 1970 Buick GS stage 1 005 - Copy - Copy - Copy.JPG 1970 Buick GS stage 1 006 - Copy.JPG 1970 Buick GS stage 1 007 - Copy - Copy - Copy.JPG 1970 Buick GS stage 1 010.JPG 1970 Buick GS stage 1 018.JPG 1970 Buick GS stage 1 019.JPG 1970 Buick GS stage 1 020.JPG
