Looking to put a big block in my '68 GS. Looking for complete 455 somewhat local like NY/NJ/CT/PA area either in running condition or easily freshened up.
I have a mid-70’s 455,older build, thumper cam,ARP fasteners, polished 04B intake. Ran it earlier this summer then pulled. Now on a stand. It can run as-is,but I think it might need valve seals soon. $1500.00 Located in Erie,PA
Hi Stephan,I have heads, block.everything to put one together, just don't have one all together right now.i live on Long Island,NY.I even have a machine shop I can recommend ,they are really good .Bruno.
They were when they came out, however I would consider them rebuilders as I have had them in storage for many years. Have another 6 or so that I did not post.Fred
I have a 1970 Buick Electra for sale. 25,000 on rebuilt motor. Runs excellent. Rebuilt in 2007, stock other than a Poston 118 cam. The rear end is a rare 3:23 posi, 9 3/8th. You can sell rear for 500-1000$. 2,500 for the car.
You stated NY/NJ/CT/ OR PA???? A 6hr. drive in PA is too far to pick up a rebuilt good running engine as has been posted. AND YOU LIVE IN PA. I DON'T UNDERSTAND???? These 455's are getting very difficult to find in ANY condition never the less running. You must be asleep as you MUST be dreamin'.
Not sure if this is even worth a response - but hey, I'll help you understand. I never said I live in PA, I don't live in PA - I live in Orange County, NY - and you can click on my avatar pic and see that. And yes, a 6 hour drive each way (12 hours, plus however much time it would take to check it out and to load it up and all that) is too far. And maybe you don't understand what I meant when I said the "NY/NJ/PA/CT area" - the area where these are all nearest each other - you know, "area". Not sure why you felt the need to post like that to me when you're just wrong. What is it? - you need to post like this because I don't want to drive 12+ hours for a motor? That's a little rough.
I found a really good '74 455 still in the car running and also picking up a '68 430 somewhat local to me. Between these two engines I can do something. Thanks everyone who reached out. Not sure how to close the thread.
My apologies to you Stephan. I should have looked where you were from. SORRY. Next time I'll keep my trap shut until I check particulars. Tom T.
