There are a bunch coming up as the season progresses and I'm actually organizing one here in Taunton on June 16th that seems to have gained a lot of interest since announcing it in January. There are a couple local cruises that I typically try to make it to as well and there's a huge one down in Hull on Nantasket Beach that I was at last year while the car was on the shelf that I'm looking forward to. There were close to 900 cars last year. Nuts!
Just a heads up if you go looking for info on the Nantasket Beach car show. The site "nantasketXXXbeachcarshow.com" (I added XXX to break the link) came up flagged as hacked and attempted to run a bunch of pop ups and other crap. Bob
The old one, or the new one In the old court house? About a year ago I brought someone to pic up his car at a shop on Brayton Ave, and the owner had a freshly painted red 72 Stage1 auto with buckets, console a N25 bumper and rear spoiler. It looked really solid but had a 350 with a few hop ups like a TA intake and roller rockers on it as he had a valve cover off. I guess it wasn't running well as he said it had mismatched parts. Never met the owner before so I didn't ask much or climb over the car much, so I can't say if it was a legit Stage with a engine swap? I heard it was sold for $17,000 or something like that. If that 72 was a true Stage and as nice as it looked, wrong engine or not that was a score! I don't believe I was active on the forum then or I would of posted about it. Hoping someone here knows or bought that car??
I worked at all of them. Haha There's also an original owner Fire Red 72 Stage 1 4-speed bench seat car down there as well. I've been hearing about it forever and finally saw it at a show at Westport high last August.
Nice, iv'e yet to see it. Is the owner easy to talk too? I ask because a few years ago there was a guy with a 65 Wildcat that had a guy playing with the carb idle screws trying to smooth the idle on this 401, I politely tried telling him the deal that nailheads used an aggressive cam because of the small valves and some lump was normal.. He just basicly ignored me and the fact that it was a 401 and it was a "445" He tried to tell me it was original paint but there was over spray all over the moldings.. It also was a Red car!!!
He was a nice guy, yes and the car is sharp! I don't get people like that but hey, to each his own. When I'm at shows or cruises, I try to answer any questions as best I can. Hell, I even let the kids enjoy the car. Haha!
HaHa, my bad but really nice and loving it that you let people and kids enjoy the "Lord Vader" and don't have don't touch signs every where.. Kudos That little one is dreaming screaming through the gears
The car spent 35 years in relative obscurity in Lebanon, PA. It's time for people to enjoy such a cool piece of Buick musclecar history.
You need a NOS Kenne-Bell KB102 (? - That's reaching into the way back time machine) "Affectionately referred to as the Grocery Getter" cam. Now I need to see if I still have my old KB catalogs and post that cam page. I think I recently spotted the box that might have them. The old girl is looking good. She hasn't had this much fun in a loooooong time, if ever. You've probably driven it more in 14 mos. than I ever would've even if I'd kept it forever.
I'm thinking more along the lines of the "window rattler". Thank you! Now that it's about 90% where I want it to be, it's been a blast. I still have some suspension upgrades but other than that, it should be good.
