Just got back from a break in ride with the new 482..........
    HOLY S########!!!!!!!!
Jim said to do 3 full throttle passes to break in the rings. With the street tires anything under 80 and full throttle makes for a driving experience!!
700 rpm idle with a beautiful lope and power breaks to boot.
After all the hair pulling and struggle it has come together and I can't wait to get driving it and get it to the track.
I really think I can drive this to the track getting good mileage, change the tires and run mid 11's all day.
    Life is good!!!

Love your successful project. How does your fuel system work (recirc or closed)? If closed, PWM or in-tank pressure reg? And what pressure?

Doing a recirc system with an in tank pump and 55-60 psi vacuum referenced. Will probable do some fine adjustments when the weather gets better and I can start driving it.

makes sense. with " in tank pump and 55-60 psi vacuum referenced" sounds like vacuum referenced pressure regulator, what are you using? And which in-tank pump?

I bought it all through TanksInc.com. A Gerotor GPA-4 pump 255L/hr and one of there return style regulators. Pumps a little noisier than I like but I didn't put the isolator above the tank yet.

Great Job. When you break it down like that, sure makes sense. the crank trigger was probably pretty fun to get right.
hey, just a little food for thought on the noisy FP. I have done a couple of these in tank swaps, took me a while to figure it out. I was setting them all up per instructions. Pump height from bottom, etc....But one would be quiet, one would be loud. same pumps. What I found was...When you put the tank in, the straps were squeezing it way more than I thought. I replaced the strap bolts with studs, so I could jam nut the top and use Nylocks . then just snug the tank up. Amazing how quiet it got. Thats an easy trick, to test my theory. Or you can pull tank back out and raise pump.
Keep us posted on the tuning and how it comes around.

Finally can start to drive it!!!

Of course Murfy jumped all over this project. Had a noise in the back brakes and found broken shoe liner, leaking wheel cylinders, and scored drums. That led to new rear disk brake kit. To get the rotors on the outside of the axle flange has to be ground down a little to fit in the "hat" of the rotor. Started grinding and then thought just start it, put it in first gear and hold the grinder to make it faster that will be quicker..... That is when I found out that both axles were bent!!! That's the vibration that I have been chasing for years. So pulled the axles and got a hold of Monaz. This axle is a BOP 12 bolt. Had him send me a set with bearings. Checked the length and pressed on the bearings. Slid the first axle in and found the spline count was wrong!!! Come to find out that I have a 2 year only axle that is a 31 spline. So sent the axles back to Monaz and he ordered me a custom set of Mosers. While I was waiting I figured I might as well get a driveshaft built to replace the hand built that was in there.
So just started to drive it (without the vibration!!!) the last couple of weeks and start dialing the tuning on it. Was getting close when I finally did a full throttle pass logging my injector duty cycle. Well my 5.3L flex fuel injectors go to 100% about 5000 rpm. So after some research I ordered a set of 6.2L flex fuel injectors that are 50# to replace the 36#. They will be in later this week so I can start the tuning process all over again.

But I did get my dash built with Speedhut gauges and some parts from my old dash. I think it turned out good.

uwasbuick NO, IT'S NOT A CHEVELLE!

That looks great. Funny how fixing one thing always leads to a laundry list of unexpected "upgrades"! Could you shoot some pictures of under the hood? Wanted to see your reluctor wheel and sensor mounting. Thanks, Josh

interesting. that seems cheaper than aftermarket unit in the long run. i can buy a whole junk truck cheaper than most of them. plus i could control a 4l60e. the gn cam sensor how was that modded.

another random question could we adapt this for a nailhead? seems like the cam sensor would be a hurdle for it. as much as i know about ls engines the cam sensor is kinda greek to me.

I took the origional dash apart and used the black square to round pieces to close off the openings and mounted the gauges on a panel behind them.

The "hat" inside of it was cut so it is one 180 degrees and off 180 degrees.

Yes it could be adapted. I looked into modifying the stock points distributor with a sensor and make a trigger wheel for it but the GN was easier. Could probably modify a stock and a GN to make a hybrid but it would take some work.

Yep I used the 4". I really like them. The speedo is a little slow reacting. The gauges have a warning light for each of them that is programmable.
