looking for a mini starter for my 455. I'm having the starter heat issue, Who sells them here on our site? any info is appreciated, thanks V8
I've used the Powermaster XS 9511 on different high HP applications with very good success. The adjustable mounting block comes in very handy for certain applications. You do need to check the fit and lash to be sure it'll work properly. In one instance I had to slot the mounting holes to get better gear lash clearance.
+1 on the Powermaster XS 9511. I've had one in my '67 for the last 9 years with no issues. Installs easily, can swing around for clearance from the exhaust manifold, and has that nice Toyota-ish cranking sound.
Robb Mc starter. like the Powermaster, it uses a mounting block, so pinion to flexplate clearance can be adjusted with shims. https://www.robbmcperformance.com/products/buick_starter.html
https://www.amazon.com/Starter-Camaro-Firebird-Formula-Impala/dp/B00TPLMQV6 Get one of these for a 95-97 Fbody LT1 from your local parts store,..lifetime warranty if it craps out another is no more than 20min away,.be sure to get the bolts
Yes I've used them on 10 or so buicks,..got one on my dads 13 to 1 compression car Nevermind that chart that's the application you want,..same bokt pattern you will just need the matching bolts
Any of these will work, https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...5.7l+v8,1022184,electrical,starter+motor,4152 Here are the bolts, https://www.motorcityreman.com/1403...MIv6fqnr7J5AIVQ7DtCh0qIwb_EAQYAiABEgI2dvD_BwE
Yes, Buick uses the same starter as Chevrolet V8's do that have the small flywheel. The later model PMGR inline gear reduction starters are so much better than the original you'll kick yourself for not changing to the new style earlier.
They are worth it for the ease of installation alone,..laying on your back holding up a 15lb starter while starting bolts sucks in the worst kind of way
Autozone shows to have s direct replacement for the bbb in the smaller pg260 body like the lt1 starters with bolts, new with lifetime warranty 140 https://m.autozone.com/batteries-st...old-new-starter-3631n-pg/389621_833393_0?aqs=
OK, I'm still a little confused. The starters that are linked to Rock Auto, AutoZone, etc. all look to be 11 tooth starters. Doesn't a Buick 455 use a 9 tooth starter? Or it doesn't matter?
