Anyone in the Twin Cities know of an existing machine shop that can press out and install control arm bushings and ball joints? I already have them out of my 76 b-body.
Any competent automotive repair facility should have ball joint press. You shouldn't have to hunt around for a machine shop. Honestly basic skills and common sense will get the job done if you choose to take it on yourself. Most of the auto parts chain stores have a tool loaner program. The ball joint press kits can be used to remove and install the lower bushings as well. The one thing to make note of is to brace the inside distance of the upper arms when installing the bushings, and bracing the the lower arms at the bushing pockets. That's to keep from distorting the arms. We change ball joints "on the vehicle" with a kit like this, though your control arms will be off to change the bushings which makes the ball joint change even easier. Larry
