I was speaking with Tom Molnar and he is liking to get more input from anyone who is running his rods in a 350. TA is selling these rods and we have heard about people needing to remove material so the rods clear the cam. Anyone who has more info please post on here...

    Oh boy!
Thanks for the heads up Sean, mine are still in the box, so there nowhere near hitting the cam;)
I thought some people were running them already?
When I get to the point of installing them I'll for sure update everyone whats up, that is if somebody doesn't beat me to it:eek:

Juze86 from Finland is the only person I know of that is running the rods so far but there may be others which is why I started the thread. Tom is very good to work with and I am sure he will help sort out the problem IF we can get him the detailed info he needs regarding what changes need to be made...

    Message from Tom:

I understand and appreciate the feedback. I can only fix problems that I know about. Sometimes things come across in messages or e-mail with a different meaning than what was intended so to make it clear, I am not defending the parts. We do not have a huge number of these sets out running but there quite a few not including the ones we made special for TA and this is the first I have heard of a clearance issue. If others have run into this, they have dusted the corner and just not let me know. The line you have drawn on the picture looks pretty steep. I have never seen a need on any rod to have that much clearance near the split line for the cap. Cutting that much can remove threads from the rod which can cause a major problem. General rule of thumb is 1 times diameter for thread engagement. This means for a 3/8" bolt, you need 3/8" length of thread engagement.

That line in that picture was just my rough guess how I remember it. Probably area that shows outside of red line needed to take off in my case.
TA knows about this issue because I called them in last summer after I noticed rods doesn't fit directly, they said it is common and well known issue in Buick engines.

Here is few pics, also about offset issue.

Thanks for the info, yes I replied to Tom about how the red line was just to give an idea of where it was trimmed... I will keep working with him and hopefully he can make future sets with enough clearance to be a bolt in part.
