That was a long drive. I got the message you left around 3 PM. I was helping Andy change out a fuel pump in the purple truck. It went out at Montana's. I got to tow him to Shaw Mack with my truck with a 20 foot strap. That's about 9 miles in bad weather on very bad roads. You should be glad you didn't come up here today. The initial report was that we were supposed to get 8-10 inches, but I think that estimate dropped some. It's snowing like crazy, but my fire's warm.
I went to the bar with Scheib (he's got a big RAT in his garage) to see the Steelers get their butt handed to them by Jacksonville. I bought fuel line yesterday to fix my problemo, but it began to snow before I had the chance to do anything. BTW, I was hoping I could roll that blue car next to the black one in the driveway so I don't have to change fuel lines on that thing too, but it sounds like there will be too much snow to do that!
Race Weight I'm not sure if I mentioned this.......but I weighed in at 173 this morning. That means I've dropped 39 lbs since I ran that 12.99. That should drop a tenth!:bla:
I got my 800 cfm Q-jet back yesterday. They always look so darn pretty before you put them on the car.
I also tackled my fuel line leak too. One of the rubber lines above the fuel tank split so I had to drop the tank. My close friend bent some lines for me and I'm back on the road. Although I'm going to swap out that tank in the summer. I can see I'm going to have more issues if I don't. Plus my fuel line looks like complete crap. Who has the best price on braided fuel line?
"Who has the best price on braided fuel line?" Summit brand is cheap. Otherwise years ago I was at the local industrial pressure fitting store, they sell parker hp stuff, etc. They mentioned having braided line for cheap in comparison to the "automotive" guys. I might go there this wed and measure the O.D of the 10AN stuff to see if the fittings will still work. Since Summit is back ordered on the 10an...
Yup, i don't even want to add up this months car donation. 7al3,rad,rims,fuel line, a.n. fittings, tack, tranny cooler and lines, etc.
Re: 455 Alive I'm going to install a manual choke, but then again, I may take all the choke parts off.o No:
Rat, thats my dilema now, check out my post in this forum. Keep us posted on what you wind up with. Your car looks great!
Call me Davey, Rats are Chevies. I landed a GN hood. I've need to get it fitted right, but here's a pic.
Davey, I was told previously that the hood bubble on the GN and T-Type hoods is cosmetic and doesn't give you any extra under hood clearance. Is that not the case?
That is true. If you do not cut out the hood bracing. If you do cut out the hood bracing you get an extra inch. I've got a rusty white Turbo hood for Project Turbo Blue with the hood bracing cut out. I'm going to flip flop the hoods when I get the opportunity. This nice mint black hood goes to the blue car and the white hood to Project 86, when I get Project 86 painted this summer. There is a certain WOW factor with the GN hood that I'm feeling right now!
Hey guys hope this helps, i bought a cheap plastic cowl from summit, its the 2 inch high one, and used some screws to attach it to stock hood, i have a 455 with sp1 manifold, 800 dp holley, and 1 inch alum spacer, and 14 by 4 drop base air cleaner, will try to attach pic here, i know its not stock appearing but its not hard to see around, future plans are for a fiberglass cowl around 3 inches or so.
