Hey all, I skipped the wet behind the ears part because I have actually registered on here before (a long time ago) but I forgot my username and pword, so here I am again. I just got my 67 Skylark out of the barn and am working on it, so I want to use this as a buildup thread.

I am going to try to run up to 10 posts quickly so I can show you guys some pics and see if you can give me an idea of what all I need to do on this thing. BRB.

    Glad to be here.

Did some work to it today. Evicted the previous occupants (shown below), ripped out the seats, carpet, and old crusty sound deadener material. I plan on cleaning off the floorpan and powder coating it, then putting new dynamat or similar stuff back on, and new carpet. Seats are in great shape, which is a huge plus because they are expensive.

Here is where things get strange. First of all, I get the QuikSilver shifter, but why the 2x4 and why would there be a hole there? It's over to the side of the trans tunnel.

Using this car as inspiration. I think it's a guy on this board. I am not doing a hood scoop on mine, but the paint and look of this car is just killer.

And here's my Buick that actually runs at the moment. :bglasses:

Thanks. I bought it as a roller for $1500 a few years ago. It's really a pretty straight car and I haven't found any rust other than light surface rust. After crawling around the floor pan today cleaning I never felt like I was going to fall through!

I yanked a 455 out of an early or mid 70s Electra. It's torn down and at the shop waiting for me to hone it and start building it. .030 over, forged pistons, probably some type of Hemi killer cam and iron heads. I have an NX Gemini Twin plate that's not being used, so I might spray it. Should be a pretty mild street car, but not a daily.

Thanks! Yeah I bought it probably 4 years ago from a place in Waco. They wanted like 3000 for it with the motor but I wanted it as a roller so I could do a 455 or LS motor. 455 it is!

BTW love your avatar, I would kill for one of those air cleaners!

Don't know about the 2x4 but that hole on the side looks to be the factory hole for the original style shifter (auto on the floor).

That's good news. I was pissed when I took the console out and saw that 2x4 and the hole. This is my first Skylark so I am completely clueless about the details on this car. Glad that hole is supposed to be there, I want to find a factory style shifter and go back with it.

I have an extra one I'm redoing, the one I'm gonna use on my 67 GS project is almost done. Don't kill for it! U gonna hang those varmints from the rear view mirror when you're done?

Looks like someone patched in a chunk of the tunnel where the shifter sits? Looks like cut metal?

That's awesome, you are a lucky guy to have even one, much less two of those things. I went ahead and tossed those little guys in the trashcan, but I haven't emptied it out yet so I guess I can turn them into some air fresheners or something  I would have to move into a trailer park and become the king of it if I did that!

I think the 2x4 is factory and the hole is for empties.
Very rare 67 only "Mountain William" edition.

I had to go out in the garage to look, lol. I see what you mean looking at that pic. That is some of that sound deadening material you see, that pic was taken before I got that stuff pulled off. The tunnel looks to be original and not chopped, you can see faded blue paint underneath the dirt and sticky stuff.

Seeing your car and the final goal makes me want to drag my 67 lark out and paint it. I am thinking Flat black with blacked out windows and some 70 GS scoops grafted onto the hood. Sweet ride, cant wait to see it when it's got new paint.:TU:
