65 is a very good year for Bugs for those not in the know.

Leaking oil? No way. Cheers to two piece motors.

PS: I came from a family of seven kids. Our family truckster was a 65 VW Bus. Imagine all that horsepower with nine people.

Hopefully just the pressure sender. You checked the oil level? Do you have a gauge also? My car did this this recently. You can test the light circuit, by pulling the wire off the oil pressure sender, it should go out.

Does the engine sound any different? Hopefully not. I will think positive thoughts for you.

The other day it happened I felt like the trans didn't want to cooperate. It sputtered and hesitated the trans. Today didn't drive but 15 min. Oil light came on but no diff in sound or drive. I was able to put in neutral and rev and it went off. Now its staying on

    TrunkMonkey Totally bananas

Oil pressure wire is dark blue, connected on the lower passenger side on front of block above the oil filter housing.

It will always have 12v when in "on/run". The switch is spring loaded to ground (turn on light) with no oil pressure, so it is on with key on before start or if oil pressure fails.

So, check for 12v and as stated above, with it disconnected, light will go out. (unless you have that wire jackets rubbed through with another wire that has 12v touching it)

Thank you. I have not touched heat or ac. I had a flowmaster put on Friday. And left my stock piping with single exhaust.
