Well, it's been great weather latley, soon to turn to crap I'm sure. But the day after Thanksgiving wasn't one of them. While the girls were off shopping, I spent the day in one of the best yards I've ever seen! The owner has had the yard for 45 years and his dad had it before that. I bet I didn't see 1/3 of it, it goes on forever. I don't think he's ever crushed anything. Anyhow, I didn't buy anything, but did take these pictures. Enjoy! http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240033.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240034.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240035.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240036.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240037.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240038.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240039.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240040.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240041.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240042.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240043.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240044.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240045.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240046.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240047.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240048.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240049.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240050.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240051.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240052.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240053.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240054.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240055.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240056.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240057.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240058.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240059.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240060.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240061.JPG http://www.baldwin-telecom.net/~rgarber/PB240062.JPG Rich
That is unbelievable! What a gold mine. Is it one of those places that wants $600 for an emblem? :error:
I don't think so, I talked to the owner for awhile, super nice guy. His main business is towing big rigs, sounds like that's were he makes his money. He's got a lot of nice stuff, he clams that the real rare stuff is put away where no one can find it. o No: I talked to another guy that was there and he said there is stuff in the woods you may never find. I'm guessing at least 600 acres, seems to go on forever. Now I have something to do when I vist the In-Laws. I didn't see a lot of Buick A bodies there. More of the bigger stuff, in the part of the yard I was in. Quite a few Rivs. The first picture is a olds 442 non air 4 speed car. Someone stole the rear fin, other than that it looked complete. It's nice to know that there is still some old tin out there :TU: Rich
The owner claimed that the olds was not a W30 car, he did say that he does have a couple of them, tucked away somewhere. I think they are stage covers, I grabed the dist, which is a 1112110. 72 standard 455, I think. I'll make it back down another time and take a closer look at the heads. Overall, a great day :TU: Rich
Man I haven't seen a yard like that since I was a kid !!! Great photos.Sure is a lot of history there.Hope somebody saves some of those.Be interesting to know what's up with the Stage One looking motor at the end. :Brow:
Treasure Trove Wow, That is some serious stash hoard. Better than that BUICK yard that was for sale this time last year! Anyone ever know what happended with that yard?
Yard Rich I know that yard been there a few times. No it has never had a crusher to it.I have got some great things out of there.Tim.
wow that brings me back to when i used to go to the yards with my pops as a young boy. good to see places like that still exisist. Not here in cali ,perrty much all we have are the home depo tand wall marts of the junk yards, you know pic-n-pull & you pull its. rich you said quite a few rivs, any 67 round there ? if so p.m. me ,i'd like to talk, maby we can work somthing out .thanks for the trip to boy hood. rich, jose
I cannot believe that if this stuffs for sale at a resonable price that no one has grabbed that "Certain Mopar" yet.
Rich , great post I love to get in there and go to town on some of those cars. As for the "certian mopar) I would love to get hold of that one as well. Actually I saw two. Take care Russell
I think the main reason is that no one can figure out how to get them out of there. The cars are so tight in spots you can't walk through them. Think of the effort to get a car out of there, even a 1/4 mile in and moving 100 plus junk cars to get to it o No: Rich
Sweet looking yard! I know a guy by my old home town who is a major ford buff, and he has several large rows of 65-70 mustangs, its nuts. He also has tons of other cool old fords, a couple other brands but since he's a ford guy I dont think he keeps those around long. From what I've heard from others is he wont sell alot of his cars, for no real reason. I've also heard that he has a couple large sheds filled with old rare cars, shelbys and whatnot. Anyways, I love walking around that yard.
Rich I am looking for a few sportwagon parts and I see he has one, Can you tell me where the yard is? I am in Wisconsin also
If the cars are packed in tight, it can make it really tough. Eventually many will be crushed at some point while leaving good cars/parts-we've seen plenty of that in recent years. Sounds like there is plenty to go around and help guys out-is this the Camp Douglas area yard from past chat?
