Here is a car that I picked up this weekend, just got it home, havent had time to take a bunch of pictures or check it out thoroughly yet. Felt like Ron Mooney cruising around with a pocket full of bills, living large! Havent decided if I am going to keep it or sell it, I dont really need or have space for another car, unless it is a 70 GS Convertible, but I asked myself, "WWRD"? ("What would Ron do?), and I couldnt pass this one up.

Yes I will consider part trades for a convertible, and I may be putting it up for sale soon if the wife and I don't get attached to it first!

Originally Diplomat Blue (Code 28) with a white top and blue interior, now Viper Metallic Blue with a white top and interior. Body appears to be straight and rust free, not much bondo, my magnet sticks everywhere. Paint is not show quality, but pretty nice, needs some every minor touch up and detailing. Yes I know the fender emblems are in the wrong place. At some point in time, the Dside fender and inner was replaced, not sure about the Pside. Nice chrome and stainless trim. Dont know for sure if it is the correct engine, it was milled and decked, will try to check some of the casting numbers soon.

Some info fro the previous owner:

70 GS 455 - vin # 446370ZXXXXXX made in Fremont plant. got build sheet off top of gas tank
Previous owner had the car 8-9 years / parked in garage / put less than 2000 average miles a year since owning and working on it.
it's an A/C car - is all there but does not run cold. Compressor spins freely.

engine rebuilt - stock specs.rods, cam, pistons, crank/ bored 30 over/block decked / heads milled new valves, springs and seats./ oil journals made larger / double roller and timing chain / high (volume) not pressure- oil pump / rebuilt radiator to 4-core with new electric thermo. Dual, control low profile fans / stock quadrajet Carburetor, rebuilt, jetted, electric choke / new 2-1/2 ' aluminized exhaust with 3' flowmaster muffs. / new drive shaft with heavier u-joints / New rebuilt wiring harness engine compartment / new neoprene bushings on sway-bars, control arms and tranny / new heavy shocks front -rear / tranny checked serviced a few times and new shift kit / electronic ignition / new drums new brakes
fairly new paint in and out with 3 coats of clear / new vinyl on-piece top (also with paint & 3 coats clear under)
new interior with factory cut & stitch pattern- seats, door panels. head liner, carpet, dash restored, rear window tray.window felts / rear window quarters / new weather stripping on doors and trunk / gm -GS floor mats.

Real nice aftermarket stereo and alarm. Speakers in kick panels and rear deck, amp and small sub woofer in trunk, tastefully done.

Not stock, but all in all, a pretty nice, solid cruiser, needs a few small pieces and some new wheels really bad!

Awesome car, Chris! Looks like an excellent purchase to me! And the WWRD mentality seems to work pretty good! I might try that thought process sometime, to see if it works as good for me as it did you! Really love that color too, viper metallic blue looks so cool on that car! :TU:

Nice new Buick Chris! :TU: :beer

But a few things that are wrong with it....alternator bracket and water pump pulley are the wrong color, you have two identical rust holes in the center of your hood, the overflow tank is not sparkling white, the inside of your oil pan is oily, and your positive battery cable is two inches too long. :moonu: :moonu: :spank: :pp :pp

Good one Rob, you have a sharp eye, especially to catch that the inside of my oil pan was oily, I better drain it and clean it again. Everytime I do it, it just gets oily again when I fill it up. :Do No:

Are the door panels emblems wrong. I think you need to unload it. Send me a PM and I will see what I can do for you!

Good eye Ed, yes they are incorrect (at least for a 70)! They appear to be 71 or 72 emblems. I better unload it, quick make me a reasonable offer before I replace them!

In all seriousness, I probably will be selling the car, although I don't know yet what the price will be. I guess that depends on how much clean up work I do to it before selling it. I am hoping I can find some time to start on it next week or shortly thereafter, once I finish up a project for my wife!

Congratulations Chris.......now maybe this will keep you off E-Bay so "I" can bid on a convertible once and a while and not see your name there too.

WWRD...drive it, enjoy it, show it around. If it's a keeper you'll know. If not, you'll have lots of people who saw it and might be interested in it.

A clean, nice appearing car like that is an easy sell....you'll have no problem turning a profit on that one Chris...now stay the hell off E-Bay for a while and give a brother a chance. :)

P.S. (I'm still waiting on this one)

No, it is my wife's.

2002 with under 30k miles. We are parking it for now since it does so bad on gas, I think even the Buick's do better. I bought a little Honda to drive to work and she is driving my Mercedes.

Thanks Ron! No chance of me staying off ebay, I am still looking for a 70 convertible, you are safe with the 71's and 72's though.

Drive it, enjoy it, show it around. Those are all tough things to do in Washington with a 35 year old big block (without rear defrost or posi) between October and April. :ball: Although I did drive it to the monthly Buick club meeting tonight, sure does cruise nice.

I figure I am going to have to sell it soon, becuase if I don't then a convertible will come up for sale for sure, and I will have where to put it!
