Just got this little car was orignailly bought by the Original dealer ( proteco plate has dealers name as owner ) Jan 10 1968 maybe as his personal car . I will check into it more as time goes on, but very cool bits of histroy makes an interesting story. Was probaly not a demo as they were typicily not registered to the dealer in the 60's. KEN
That's a great year. My grandfather had a tan 68.It was a 4dr,he used to bring me out for ice cream in it all the time when I was a kid. Great car.
IN 1974 I bought my very first Skylark and it was a 68 skylark custom 2 dr ht the same color as this one so I am partial to this partcular car. In fact its the main reason i am totally into Buicks the way I am ( i have had over 100 ) i even have some parts off it after all these years  Ken
Good looking car!:beer Skirts, hub caps, white interior...WOW!:bglasses: What options does it have?Is it Canadian built?
Yes built in Canada Dec 11 1967 PS, PB, TILT, AUTO, notch back seat, REAR SPEAKER. REAR DEFROST i will poist the GM canada sheet later and it has a 12 bolt rear diff :TU: Ken and it has NO sholder belts as well i guess because a very early build
Yes Bob I am sure in his good books and accounting books as well HAHAHAHA i sent you a PM regarding the 67 as well please get back to me Ken
That was the car from vancouver right? I went over and looked at it, it's in pretty decent shape, the suspension especially seemed to be rock solid, no rust on the frame or anything. The guy who was selling it just rubbed me the wrong way from the start, and I didn't like the price at all for a lark with a few too many expensive issues for a young guy to pay for. It's nice to see that it's gone to a good home!
yup it is and I am glad you didn't like the guy as well:grin: i got a better deal than he was asking. This car is more than a skylark to me it is a memory  its near exactly like the first one i bought in 1974 :Brow: color and all. Some times we have to look past the obvious and see the real deal. in all my years of collecting cars this one means the most next to my 69 GS400 convert which i bought directly because of this car in 1983. You will probably not find one as nice as this one any time soon. It just passed our out of province with just needed a high beam and a washer pump and front shocks. ken ps he had owned the car since 2005 as well not the same story everyone else seemed to be telling you
Does it really matter uzzled: and besides i have bills for the car that he has since 2005 - 2006. which indcates to me he has owned it for at least 5 years. does it matter how much he paid for it?? It is how much you pay that matters do you expect everyone to give away stuff uzzled: I have bought cars for 1,000.00 and sold them for 5,000.00 it what the market will bear some times you win some times you lose. In this case its not about how much anyone paid its how bad does someone want the car, I wanted it and compaired to anything else i could find it was a deal in my mind. I guess that makes me a stupid @%##@%^ as you posted in your last thread. I wish you luck in finding a giveaway car. It has been many years since I have found any thing this good. Besides these cars are getting fewer and fewer, so find them and buy it, if you like it :TU: dont listen to anyone else unless they have something to replace it with thats just my two cents. I have been collecting Buicks since 1974 and this was worth all the money and more to me at least Ken
I'm starting to think that I might have to widen my search, my love for that 68-9 body style has my vision narrowed a bit, like you say there arn't that many around, and I've noticed, I've been looking for awhile and generally you get a few okay cars between 70-72 on the classifieds once in awhile, and even see some earlier year specials and larks, but I've only seen maybe 5 68-9's altogether in the past 7 months on all classified sites combined, and one looked pretty rough, one was a four door, and one was a lowrider on 22's, one was yours, etc.. Theres plenty down stateside if I had 20k for a restored one but that sure isn't the case. Looking for a close to rust free car to stick my hotrod running gear in, just something reasonable without a chewed up interior and needing a full front end rebuild.
Car looks good Ken! Amen to what you are saying about finding and buying these cars, they are definately getting harder to find in any kind of condition, let alone "jump in and drive" condition at the $5k mark.Talk to you soon.Hey I've got a 68 GS hood in burnished brown:Brow:...........Cole
thanks i like the 65 here are some pics of the 68 with new shoes next thing is to polish and instal my lowering springs :TU:
