Well I had another crappola day at the strip as usual. Lets see, two years ago I go to the strip with my Regal in its first incarnation. At that time it had a stock 350 with headers and a 750 Q jet, Moper A-833 OD, and a 3.42 Posi with normal street tires. It went 15.27. The car was actually fun then!!!!

Now after another $1500 or so, I got a TA 290 cam in the 350, a 800 Q jet, recurved dist, Super T-10 trans, 3.90 Posi, Street slicks, boxed control arms with urethane bushings, etc, etc, etc. So what does two years of hard work and $$$$ get me???? How about a whopping 14.88 :af: :af: :af: :af: :af:

My Regal sucks and I think I'm selling out before I waste one more summer of my life. Maybe someone who knows what they are doing can enjoy it. Aperently ( I know I cant spell and I dont care!) I don't know crap about cars and its time I quit pretending I do.

Sheez, My LeSabre is faster to the 8th mile mark!!!!!!!!!

Anyone interested in the Regal? I figure 'round $3000. Be prepared to be dissed at the dragstrip by new GTOs, just about every import with a Turbo, and the ocassional Dodge station wagon. One out of every 300 people that look at it rave about the stick conversion though! Worth it? NO!!!!

I feel for ya man. Its really tough keeping up with today's technology without spending big money or going with a big block. If you stick around there may be some nice stuff for our 350's coming soon but it won't be cheap.

    Dan,
What does it weigh with you in it? I want to do some calcs to see where I think you should be. Shift points? Initial and total timing? Stock T10 gears?
    Any head or manifold work?
    Thats good for a start.

So you got some fine tuning to do. The fact that you have a T-10 in a Regal is so unique /awesome.

I can tell you right from here you need compression to make power. I had a daily driver 70 skylark with a TH350 and a 323 that ran over 100 and in the 13s so I know it can be done. It had 10.to 1 true compression and it was a pump gas motor. I also had a Stinger S4 ignition system on it with headers and 2.5 inch exhaust only. Qjet and all.

PS Just bring it here for a week or so I can iron it out!!! :3gears:

Dan....dont get to disappointed with the car just yet. The altitude level today (with humidity) was around 4100 feet. My car only made it into the 11's once in the last couple days and it runs 11.80's normally at Quaker. Give it time and get some good air it'll all be worth it eventually.

You feelin better Dan?? Anyway, you have a 70 455 laying around. You have a 430 laying around. Pick one and rering and put new bearings in. You'll hit the 13's then for sure. Or just go to Keystone, you'll definitely get some good times there.

What I'm doing here is looking into my Crystal ball. I envision me spending all winter doing up a big block and running 14.20s. Seriously, this car is fighting me these days.

Thanks Andy, John, Jeff and Renee for the encouraging words. Yeah...I'm pretty PO'ed about it. My stinkin' migraine isn't helping my attitude. Its just so much time and trying to be effecient with the $$$$. ARGGGGGGHHHHHHH :af:

Chris, Hemi eh? You want smacked?

Bill M, its a close ratio box. I love it at third and forth gear. But first kinda sucks. The old Moper trans had a 3.00 first. This one is significantly less. Stock heads and bottom end. 35 degrees total advance.

Mike G, Thanks for that out standing offer! If I thought this engine had hope, I'd consider the drive!

But this 350 is really starting to wear out. And although at one point I've been pretty hyped about doing a BBB. I just forsee another failure looming. Not for sure, but a good chance. Anyhoo....if it doesnt sell I'll probably cool off and do something with it. The local flashlight drags are Sat night. I may lean it out several jet sizes as it ran rich at Salem. What am I gonna do.....blow it up?

350 T type, your combo sounds good. But if those heads are stock, get ready to be unhappy.

Dan don't give up yet. I know the feeling you have, kinda.....Don't beat yourself up Dan. Im sure your a heck of alot more knowledgeable than 2/3 of the people here on this board about cars. I've always admired your regal (and the cat' too) and the fact that you stuck to your guns each time even though you are faced with problems that may seem unsurmountable. I know alot of people who would have given up where you pushed through the problems. Building your regal on a limited budget too is something that takes a man of patience and control. Do not give up! You have too much going for you, remember any problem you can't solve someone here can give you help so you can solve it. Goodluck Dan! :TU:

    track kills

the track can kill a lot hope it may seem fast on the street but the track will tell it all . REMEMBER the 350 only started out with around 200horses so you have to look at that aspect. The box arms really may be over kill right now Ive ran stock arms on a 11 sec regal. Keep the car and concentrate on the motor. what type of intake are you running. sounds like you got a stock motor with just a cam its not really off where you should be at

Hey bud don't beat on your self!!! Everybodies numbers were off!!! The one thing I noticed was the engine smoked a awful lot on your runs. If you are going to run with the 350 you have in there you may want to take a closer look it's condition. BTW on the spelling part Spell Check Program is my best friend :Brow: AL.

He's right!! Everybody's numbers were off! Except mine. I got my first numbers in my GS 350. Alot slower than I thought, but I don't care. What do you want from a stock motor pushing around a 3700lb car (then add my fat a$$).

Stock 350's don't blow up (unless you run it low on coolant-woops-,my bad)so unless you have time on your hands that thing will run&run&run.performance is gained in the HEADS and valvetrain. We can make that 350 run on some short $$$ and labor.Let's get a plan together and move forward.

Hey Dan, because you "pretended" to know about cars, I pretend to know something too now. Thanks for making me a Buick enthusiast buddy!

By the way, I still don't know what my car does in the 1/4. I just love the car for what it is and how it shuts up the rice burners in Columbus, OH.

    Hey Bigdawg,

    Thanks for the input. :beer

I was fighting some real bad wheel hop, so boxing the arms began to help. I added bushings later and it almost totally cured it. Then I put on a homemade snubber and eliminated all hop. So the idea on the boxed arms wasn't wasted energy, it was part of an equation to eliminate problems. Since I weld, it was a free step in the process. :TU:
