I saw a complete rebuilt like new set up complete with linkages at a swap meet for 1500.00. Didnt have the money or use for it then. Have a need now but still no money
Pass. These are just jewelry, and I hate that folks feel they need to pay 10 to 15% of the price of their ride for this set up. I had one on my 64 Electra and nobody ever looked at it. I had started to buy the pieces for a 64 Riviera and I bailed on the car, so put the parts in Hemmings (1996) and had guys competing against each other, with lies and all manner of slander just to get a "deal" on them. Some guy Randy out of Detroit or Michigan and some guy who had a business called "Cat's Lair" Randy got the part. I found out later he was a crook with a bad reputation but the "Cat's Lair" guy said my name was mud for the rest of my life for the Buick crowd. After that I thought hhmmm, these jewelry items are not worth the anger and meanness. We all know that a nice 4 barrel set up on a nailhead creates a lot of speed and torque. The Electra was fast with the 2 x 4, and fun, but not worth it. I guess, the Electra was a mess and could not be restored. The car could have been parted for good money. I bought it for $1250 and drove it 2 years. Posi, etc.
OK Bryan: I'm with you. I put 100K on a 65 Riv with dual quads and at the time I thought i was in hog heaven. Today? It's jewelry that doesn't do anything for me. When I look at a car I like to see overall quality. Anything else is icing on the cake.....but too much icing can give me a tummy ache. Mitch
I know Ted. And that's fine. If a person wants a car set up a certain way that's great. They look awesome, I enjoyed my 64 with the 2 x 4, just wouldn't throw anybody under the bus for one, and would set a budget.
