I just wish i had the time and parts to have freshened the looks of the motor when i did the swap. Looks like crap to me. Then i bolt up some cool and nice looking parts only to cover most of it up! lol

Wish I could talk my son into putting on the FI Tech 800 or 1200. (Then he can add whatever he wants to it down the road and not worry about tuning anything.

Was a really easy install. The 800 is working very well on a totally stk 401
Plenty of room to grow and can easily be used on other motors if the need arises

what intake did you use, I was watching a couple different videos on Utube and they both had a heck of a time getting it to run right with a dual plane intake, they switched to a single plane and it fixed it. I am wanting to put one on my 65 GS but was putting it off do to not mant intakes to choose from on a Nailhead

    Thanks

Used the stk 4 hole dual plane.

Thats good to know, On engine masters they said to only use single plane intake for best results.

    Thanks :)

Just installed a Holley Sniper system in February and when we did it, we replaced the vent or return line with a bigger line than the ‘69’s original vent line. Reason being is if you turn the key on but don’t start the car, your electric fuel pump is getting power and is pumping fuel through the line because it’s now an instant circular system. It might have been overkill but it’s pulling gas out of the tank and putting it right back in the tank if you don’t start the car immediately. We just wanted to make sure the return line could handle the volume going back into the tank. In doing so we had to modify the original return line going into the top of the tanks sending unit. Not hard, since we were already running a new fuel line anyways.

What do you reckon it's cost you $$

Sorry guys, i'm evidently not getting notifications when someone posts.
Have been working on updating the interior on the Wildcat and didn't drive it for a few months. Got the interior mostly done and went to drive it only to have the water pump fail. When pulling that off one of the bolts that runs through the timing cover and into the block broke. Got irritated and didn't mess with it for quite awhile. Finally got back on it and got the bolt out(had to drill it out!). While i had the timing cover off, i noticed a good deal of slack in the original timing chain(almost 8 degrees of slack!). Replace it and got everything back together. It has always idled decent with the FiTech but the IAC's were bouncing around a bit and not consistent. Now with the new timing chain, the IAC's are very steady and normally 0-2 at idle. Seems to be running very good.
Before the FiTech, we took the car on a 100mi round trip(98% highway) and filled it back up when we got back. MPGs were 13 something. The day after adding the FiTech i did the same drive and MPG's were just under 14...BUT, i had a terrible headwind on that trip(like 30mph!). So, it was not apples to apples but i knew it had to have gained a decent amount with the EFI to be able to get the same MPG in MUCH worse conditions.
Well, since changing the timing chain/water pump we just got back from a 122 mile round trip. About 90% highway. We filled up at the gas station near our house before we left just like the last two times. And we filled up when we got back. The fuel gauge showed over full when we left and was ON full when we got back. It took 5.41 gallons to fill it back up(all the way into the fill tube)....!? That equates to 22mpg? I honestly do not believe it. Only thing i can figure is that for some reason we could not get it as full when we got back. We have never had an issue before, but i just can't believe this old iron 401 could be capable of that kinda mileage. We were running around 70mph on the highway and were not "getting on it" any. I'll be looking into this again and will report back. So far, i'm really liking the FiTech.
I could not realistically say if its faster or not as i didn't run it much with the carb. Throttle response is much better with the Fitech though! No hiccups or anything. Fires right up with out touching throttle, no matter what the weather.
I still have a small cap HEI that i have not put on the car. Looking forward to that. Might add a MSD ignition to it as well.
The fan clutch is not working well(temp climbs when sitting still, but drops when moving), so we picked up an electric fan from the wrecking yard. Will be adding that hopefully very soon. The FiTech will control an electric fan so the wiring should be a snap...

Ok, got the small cap HEI on the car along with new plugs/wires/coil. Also added the dual electric fan to it. Took the car on a 155mi round trip. About 90% highway(averaging 75mph which was around 27-2800rpm!). Was very windy as well. Averaged 15.8 mpg, which was not bad and closer to what i figured. If we had kept speeds closer to 70 i believe it would have averaged over 16. This thing really needs an OD trans if driving on the interstate at anywhere near 75mph. Motor is running very smoothly with no hiccups or anything. Fires right up when hot or cold. I do need to work a little on fine tuning. Throttle response when getting aggressive with the throttle off idle needs to be better. Otherwise its performing great. Was nice to see all the plugs we had been running in it looking similar to each other and with good color. Plugs are not oil soaked at all.
Next up to install is the MSD 6AL-2 ignition...

Thanks for keeping this post updated. I'm going to be putting the EZ Street 600 system on my daily driver and it's nice to read an unbiased opinion. Sounds like it's working like a guy would expect, definitely swaying me even more toward running the FiTech.

No problem. Much better than a carb in my opinion. One of my favorite parts is the ability to see all the data that the FiTech display shows. Coolant temp, rpm, Voltage, fan on or off, air temp, injector pulse width, injector duty cycle, fuel pump PWM, Target AFR, Actual AFR, etc, etc....
