The door glass track guides on the Aquamist car are worn out. The glass rccks back and forth because the plastic guides that slide up and down on the track rod are shot. Bad design if you ask me- round tube and square plastic guides. Now they make a whole kit for $185 a side that includes the plastic guides, but I just need the actual bushings themselves. There's an upper and a lower. They evidentially make them because they're in the kit. I don't understand why I cant find them separately. Anyone have an idea?
I never seen them bushings listed separately anywhere ... 25 years ago I had a 70 cutlass with warn out extra good slack ,hit a junkyard and swapped em just a bit better but still slacky ...ended up heating up a plastic fork to get my shape and then some crazy glue didn't look pretty but better than new for 2 years that I had the car uh the black forks I believe are stronger Used ones ,unless you see them in action are a gamble ....get creative build/shape something for the plastic even a plastic button of sort, heck sleeve that round tube with pvc tubing if space allows
one of em ...says "arriving soon " ...oops just noticed "This item is canceled" I guess they are protecting the $185 kits https://www.yearone.com/Product/1964-72-chevelle-monte-carlo-el-camino/dg7072
What a rip-off! I had bought the plastic upper guides a couple years ago before they discontinued them. So I out those in. I wound up finding a decent lower plate in my stack of window parts. So it's not perfect but it's alot tighter. And I'm not out $400. You would think these parts would be readily available. I mean, they're the same from 70-72 across the board.
I ordered a 3-D printer that should be here in October. It also has a laser cutter (2500mW), a CNC router, and there’s a 3D scanner option I’m thinking about getting. Just because I don’t want to pay $300 for a set of NOS turn signal lenses for my ‘Cat. I think I’m gonna need one of these if my car will continue to survive. I’ll keep you posted once I get up to speed.
