Reproduction quarters and floor pans for a 72 GS...

If there's a thread or threads that might touch on either, could someone please point me in the right direction?

    Thanks! :TU:

Goodmark Industries lists floor pans. I thought they also did quarters, but I don't see them listed. I have no first hand experience, but believe I've read good reviews on the board here.

Whatcha' doin' Brett? Body shop in the near future?????

Brett,I can say that the Tabco ones are nice looking. My buddy Kevin(member)got one for his Stage 1 car and they are thick metal compared to the other cheapies I got.As for the fitment, only time will tell, but I have heard nothing but positives so far.Price was about 170 per side in that ballpark.I believe Goodmark discontinued making them.

    Jim and Ken,

    Thanks for the links....

    Ken,

I had a gentleman come by today and take a peek at the car. I had originally planned on trying to go NOS with the 1/4's, and actually bought one last year. However, last weekend I had a chance to see some of his shop's work and I was VERY impressed, to say the least.

After talking to him, it makes sense (at least to me anyway) to just repair the "affected area" or whatever metal area has rust, as opposed to replacing the whole quarter. With the repro quarters, he'll just cut out and patch in what needs to be done, instead of putting the whole thing on. I need floors as well but that pretty much does it as far as sheet metal goes. My front clip is in really good shape and won't need much work at all...

He was very helpful in that he gave me many suggestions how I could save some loot by doing a lot of the prep work myself.

By prep work, I mean, gutting the entire interior, removing the front clip and doors and stripping the crappy old paint off. I think I can do that in a weekend if I go all out for a couple days. I just have to take lots of pictures and buy lots of Ziplock bags with labels....if you think about it, doesn't it make sense to do as much as you can yourself, instead of using body shop time and paying someone to do the same thing??

I'm sure there are body men/shops out there that will disaggree, which is fine, but I'm on what we like to call a limited budget. I want this car to look exceptionally good for a "driver" and I don't want to have to do this over again, 10-15 years from now....

Hey Brett.Ditto to all that you said.I am in the exact same position(another couple of years anyway). My GS is starting to get bubbles under the paint(like a bad rash of chicken pocks)Doing a lot of tearing down/tagging/stripping can save a few hard earned bucks for a working man!! I will keep an eye on your posts.Good Luck.Later,Tony.
