Does anyone make these gaskets My dad's mirrors look like they have a gangsta lean..... Thanks But I do need a set Or if anyone is repoping them
Duane - of this board - did a run of reproductions. Not sure if he still sells them. I have/ had a set, but, not locating them readily.
Duane has been sold out of them for quite some time. I don't know where else to find them, I wish I did.
Nobody like Opg or year one has anything available. Or does it have to be Buick specific Let me see on ebay
Well there are a bunch of different ones available trans am etc... I did see a specific one just for a 70 olds 442 maybe that may work anyone ever try....maybe I'll take a shot at it.
I would think they may work. The casting for the Olds mirrors are the same as the Buick. Not sure about the original gaskets were the same. Like you I am shocked no one makes the correct gaskets for the mirrors.
I own a bunch of 442's and parts, and I can confirm that the 1970 sport mirror gasket will not fit anything else. I have a variety of 71-72 gaskets and 70's Camaro/Firebird gaskets. I will check the numbers tomorrow.
Duane is no longer reproducing them and has not for several years. I believe they are specific to Buick and nothing else will work.
Spoke to Duane this morning. I was correct, mirror gaskets are specific to Buick only. The bases are shared with Olds. On a side note, he MAY be getting back into some stuff down the road a little. He is piled full with family stuff still. He sees a light at the end of the tunnel, but is unsure if it is a train heading towards him or not .
No,I also own 71-72 Olds. The gaskets are flat. I had some spare pedestals, and I was considering angle-milling them. The problem is then the mirror wouldn't tighten because the hole would be too close to the bottom, making it floppy. I'll run it by a few people that have made stuff for me before.
I found mine. I will be using these soon,so not for sale. The peg is in the same location as Camaro/Firebird,but these are wedge-shaped,not flat. The 71-72 442 are also flat, but the peg is offset.
Man that thing is crazy fat... Is there a part number Doesn't anyone have one of those 3D printers in there garage
In the first picture,9827788 I also thought of a 3D printer. A friend of mine made some other plastic pieces using one. If you want to do a small craft project, you could take two Camaro gaskets, shave one,so the peg is gone, and the upper lip is gone, bond it to the bottom of the other, then try and angle-mill it. Keep that resort towards the bottom of the list.
