Was over at the Parts Place in Elburn ,Il. and Joe showed me the sample of the new 71GS grille that will be available in a few weeks. Joe told me grilles are injection molded like the originals. Sure looked nice. They are working on a bunch of GS stuff. Coming in the near future are front wheel houses, rear outer wheel houses,3 spoke steering wheels with the correct grain,70 GSX wheels, 71, 72 tail lamps. They have always treated me right on the items I have purchased there. Give them a call if you have any questions. 630 365 1800 .

Thats awsome news! I see they have an auction on ebay right now for their first run of marker lights. Good stuff, I had good luck with my dealings also... :beer

All the GS and GSX parts they can make are welcome!

So we can use and show our cars for many years to come!

This is good news, lets see what the quality of the parts will be, if they
are good they will sell them selfs.

    Jim,
I think he's actually referring to the leather wrapped 3 spoke steering wheel.
Year One used to sell them, but apparently had trouble getting anymore from the supplier. I had them put me on their waiting list for one a couple years ago and never did get notified.

    Tim,
Yes I reproduce the 70 GSX steering wheels. I place an original center section in a mold and inject a new grip around it.
I make these in batches every 1 to 1 1/2 years, as I only sell about 8 of them a year.

The reason I no longer sell to the venders is two fold,
1 the long delay between runs, and
2 the many cost increases of the plastic material used to make them.

With them being a low production part, I am forced to use a very high cost material.

If Joe wants to make them in quantity, more power to him. I hope he sells enough to make it worth it.

Are you blowing smoke about these parts in the near future?

I would buy the rear, outer wheel houses in a heartbeat, but I will not halt progress waiting for something that may never show. Is there a time frame, or what? :Do No:

Do you think they use the auction to see "what the market will bear" to set pricing, or is pricing already set?

    Good news indeed

IF they are waiting to price items for what the market demands then remember folks dont go crazy and pay the very high prices or we may be screwing ourselves in the end. !!!!!

We bought this car from a fellow BPG member last summer.

It is a orginal 72 GS 350 turned in to a GSX clone.

It has a fully iron 11:1 571HP Jim Burek 464 engine and SP400 trans with 4000 stall convertor, 3.73 12 bolt LPW enginering/Moser axles.

It is a real beast to drive!

New from The Parts Place Inc

I was called by a good customer today about this forum and told that I should take a look at it. I am not sure what is going on but we here at www.thepartsplaceinc.com want to help restore American muscle cars to do that we need to manufacture classic car parts. We are not trying to piss any one off intentionally and copy any part that was done already. The owner of the company is interested in supplying parts to our customers and keeping the hobby going. To do this we need to keep the supply of parts coming. By fare the Buicks are fare down on the totem poll and most suppliers dont care. This is our full time business and not a hobby like most. We almost have the 71 GS grilles done in injection molded plastic unlike what was on the market years ago as a poured plastic. We have made several of parts that others laughed at and have and no interest. 1970 1971 1972 tail lamp lens 70-72 side markers washer bottles and the list will go on. I am not trying to have this as a advertisement just make you aware of what we are doing for you guys. If we have a demand for a part that is made we will also try to find the supplier who made it to offer to our customers. If that supplier can not supply it to us for resale and make a profit we may be forced to make it also. We have made 100s of parts for Cutlass GTO Camaro Chevelle Monte Carlo etc. Unfortunately being in a business it is hard to make everybody happy, we do the best we can from what we have to work with. We can see a lot of the positive things we have done and are doing.
