New gears and posi noise on tight turns

The posi noise seems to be getting quieter which is great news! just need to break her in. That being said I have a vibration now going anything above 50 mph. I am guessing because the RPMs are higher now it may have highlighted another issue. Additionally I noticed my transmission rear seal as a small drip. Didn't start until I removed and put the driveshaft back in. Hmmm.

    Questions for the group-

*I marked the driveshaft and put it back in the way it was when I took it apart. Could that be the issue?
*Could it be bearings on axles? whats the symptoms anyway to check? They seem fine and no noise.
*Is the leaking rear tranny seal an indication that the vibration is in the drive shaft?

Alignment is good. When I let go of wheel and its straight with zero pulling

    A bit at a loss.

Is the slip joint still in your driveshaft?

  3. His Skylark should not have a slip joint. Am I missing something? Thinking carrier bearing could be worn

Both the pinion and new posi unit all had new bearings including races. I used the master rebuild kit that Jim at JD race sent me. I didn't see a slip joint. Just had a yoke, straps/bolts and U joints.

Just for my knowledge....Carrier bearing is where? Also do you think its the U joints? They don't make noise and seemed ok (although aged) when I put the driveshaft back in.

  5. Sorry meant to say carrier bearing"s". You most likely replaced them if you had a rebuild kit. I wouldn't suspect u joints if only hearing noise over 50. Most u joints make a clunk noise when first starting to move forward if they're bad

Tail shaft bushing worn? That would also cause a leak. Get the car up to the speed where it vibrates, then put it in neutral. See how that affects the vibration. Try it in second gear at that speed and see if the vibration happens at another speed.

Turned out to be the U joints. I replaced them both and the vibration went away. Doesn’t mean the tail shaft bushing isn’t worn though. I’ll have to keep and eye on that seal.

Took it up to 75 and it seemed good
