Hey all, I'm 38 years old and a lifelong car enthusiast. I own a 2004 Honda S2000 (also an enjoyable car but entirely different experience) and a car I use for taking to road course track events. I just recently purchased my 92 year old grandfathers frame-off mid 90's restoration of a '65 Buick Skylark 300 ci V8 2 door hardtop repainted in the original lacquer Seafoam green (I tried to stuff all the adjectives in there!). I had watched him build it piece-by-piece as a child and then as I had the means, I kept begging him to sell it to me so I could keep it in the family. He tried to sell it at $15k for the last couple of years on the open market but never had an offer at that level (it was overpriced I believe) and he was always firm on his price, which coincidentally prevented him from selling it and giving me the chance to buy it. I'm looking forward to taking it to Cars and Coffee and other shows locally this Summer once gatherings are permitted to occur again. Unfortunately, I've only been able to drive it on two very short trips to move from one garage to a new garage. I'm in the process of bleeding the brakes, flushing coolant, changing oil and changing diff and trans fluid. It has sat in a climate controlled garage for the last 25 years or so, he would run it and drive a mile or two he said every few months, but still has sat a good bit. I'll gladly take any advice on this model that anyone has, I'm just taking in all the like a sponge right now.
From another Patrick. Welcome. I personally Love the 65's. Glad to see you got it. Lots of Buick love here. Glad you signed up. Love to see pics.
Below are pics after the first wash and just after pulling it from the storage unit to bring her to her new home.
Welcome to The Board from Linden MI. I'm a fan of the '65 Skylark model myself. I had a '65 Convert for 14 Years until I sold it. Now I have a '65 Gran Sport. Enjoy your car, it's a beauty. Jim (Ponch)
The latest after fresh clay bar and wax. Grandfather is coming to town for his 92nd birthday and we’re going to drive it to Cars and Coffee in Franklin, TN this Sat morn. Should be fun!
Man, I love the 65-67. Just a flat-out stunner. And welcome, you have found the best automotive forum on the web.
Welcome from another Buick owner in middle TN. That's a good looking car and it's very cool that your grandfather bought it new.
