    Hi all!

I'm new to the board, and to the Buick brand in general. My father and I converted a 1972 Malibu to a Chevelle SS "clone/tribute" when I was a kid, now fast forward 20 some years he and I are doing getting our hands dirty again. Picking up a 1972 Skylark Limited tomorrow that needs some TLC for sure (exterior more than anything). The plan is to make it into a GSX clone/tribute long term. Currently it has 107,000 miles on the stock 350 motor / automatic trans. Looking forward to this fun project!

I'm located in South Central Michigan in case anyone is wondering.

Nice looking, and it's and it's non hard top, so you get to have cozy wing windows too!

Yeah, got it for ~$3500. It seemed like a good price. My Dad was looking at a 1936 Oldsmobile originally, I was glad I found this one.

Thanks for the warm welcome! We picked it up today. Definitely has some body issues that need to be addressed. Also found that the rear passenger side floor board is partially rotted through as is the trunk. Plenty of metal there to weld something new in though! The guy who we purchased from had recently replaced the distributor, wires, and points. The test drive was great however about 15 miles into the trip home we hit a torrential downpour and it started to have some issues (loss of power, died, start back up, drive a little, rinse, repeat). We also feel as though the dwell is off a little as well. Not to worry though, our go to mechanic picked it up with his flat bed. It was always the plan to get it to him first anyways to give it a full checkup. I’m sure I’ll post updates along the way in one of the other sub forums.

    Thanks!

My friend got a 1970 sky lark with good floors but like you the trunk was rotted thru.
He found a place that makes repo panels for them.

    Looks like a good project.
