Just joined last week and want to say hello....

I'm in the market for my first classic and love the looks of the 68-72 Skylarks.

I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination and any work that I would need done I would be paying a shop to do.

I have my eye on a 72 Custom with 350/4bbl and a 200-4r trans that I found on line at a consignment shop and just had a pre-buy inspection done by a third party. Was told that the car is solid with no major issues. No rust issues, just surface rust underneath... starts, runs, drives, shifts smooth and stops. There does seem to be minor oil and trans fluid leaks, and the oil pan drain plug looks like it has been repaired with JB Weld... is this something to be overly concerned about?

Only other issue is that during the test drive the A/C line was freezing up.

Thanks for any advice you could give.
