Steve, not to be picky but original production hoses had yellow stripes on them running the length of the hose. I think Gates and Dayco were the suppliers. Yellow striped hoses would sell better in my opinion.

    Dave,
Do you have any original parts to sample? The only original 72 hose I've seen was from Good Year.

Yeh I guess the 72's did not have the stripes as I am more familiar with 70 and 71's. I will have to check my old magazine photos. These hoses could have been plant specific as well. Now I guess at least 3 suppliers. Dayco, Gates, Goodyear.

I based my parts on the photo of the original upper hose posted by GS restoration of his low mile 72 350 4 door car. It shows the Goodyear logo.
There was a stripe that runs the length of the hose that is broken with some letter/number codes. Probably build date info. I could not deciphir it so did not want to include it. Also would limit the part to a specific time period.
The stripe is painted on when the straight hose is extruded. The logo, PN and 2 letter code is added after the hose is formed and trimmed. I know this because I have work/worked for 2 different hose manufacturers.
The lower hose I sell is the correct PN and code for all 71 thru 74 455 powered cars. I could not say if Goodyear had the hose contract to supply all or any of these years. Based on the info available this is the best I could do and I've not heard of anyone else attempting to market these. I would love to see good clean original hose samples or photo's to improve on this project.
I could do 71 upper hoses if anyone can provide photo's or an actual sample to model from.

Oh yeah I do take Pay Pal but would perfer check or money order to avoid the fees. PM me for details.
    Other parts in development,
pump to carb fuel line for 72 stage 1 with A.I.R pump. Yes it's different.
Foam pad for heater hose on AC cars, real auto grade foam, not pipe insulation.
Power steering return hose kits. Real PS hose with pinch clamps.
72 tune up / emissions sticker for California emmissions stage 1
    Power bucket seat drive belt
    and more.
    Any interest?

    Thanks

Let me know if and when you do a 71 GS455 upper hose. FYI I do have an original upper hose for a 71GS350 if you need a sample.

Could you send a photo or 2 of the 71 350 hose paint markings. Place a scale by it so I'll get an idea of the size.
    Thanks

I could supply you with an original power steering return hose in pretty good condition. It has yellow markings that say "Swan" and maybe some other stuff. Also I know that early 70's with AC used the foam pad on the big heater hose line then later 70-72 had it on the small hose. The 70- 71 upper radiator hose for GS-455 was the same for both years according to assembly manuals. It is part #1386849 code XB. The hoses available from the aftermarket companies now are not correct and I believe they are a one size fits many and they list 70 and 71 are diffferent which is incorrect. it would be great if you could recreate original routing for these hoses. I have several magazine pictures that show this hose but not sure if they would show up in photos. They also show the stripe but are black and white. Also do your lower hoses have the spring inside? Keep up the good work. This stuff is appreciated.

Other suggestions, rubber donuts for AC lines where they hit fender well(as they dry rot), the rubber on metal grommet that plugs into the firewall on Ac cars that the vacuum lines pass through.

George, does your 71 hose have a part number? The assembly manual says 70 GS 455, 71 GS 455 and 71 GS 350 all use the same hose code XB #1386849. 70 GS 350 is different and 350 Skylark different as well. Can you post a picture?

Check out the pics of the original radiator hoses with stripes on the 25,000 mile survivor 72 post. they show the stripes which I guess were white.

A friend of mine has a '72 GS 455 that badly needs a fuel line. That would be great if you could make those hard to find lines available.

    Thanks for you efforts.

Hey Carl, Congrats on Muscle Machine of the year.
How soon does your friend need the fuel line? I could maybe move this project ahead if there is a need for them.

Hi Carl, its pretty easy to bend your own up with some line from NAPA and a small bending tool, plus you can tweak the line for your mods (intake, etc). You'll need to flare to flare the one end too.

    Just a thought.

PS Still drool when I see your car on the cover, looks excellent...

Does the Gates hose have the correct GM part number on it? Do you have a photo of it? Also would like to see the lettering that's inline with the stripe. Should be the extrusion date of the hose.
    Thanks

These are the 2 best pictures I have of it...the hose went away with the car when I sold it.
