Greetings, I have a 1970 Buick Wildcat, 455, thats been sitting for a few years. Ive finally decided to give the motorcycles a rest and really get into this thing Buick. My pop has been a motor head all his life---so of course its in my blood. Ill probably ask gazillion questions as I move through the restoration process. so thanks in advance for any assistance.
Greetings. So far I’ve had the vinyl top redone. Vogue tires. Griffin radiator. Edelbrock carb. And have been collecting all the NOS Buick Knick-knacks I can find. She’s coming along slowly. Next will be Replacing the rear valance and rear bumper. Front bumper. Headers, cyclinfer heads and aluminum intake. Any suggestions??
Welcome! Suggestions? Sell the Edelbrock carb to a chevy guy and put a properly built (not parts store reman) Quadrajet on it. Have your original built by or get a replacement one (‘71 up flow 800cfm!) from one of the guys on here. Also, headers for a big car are expensive shorties (I think) and don’t gain much. Ported manifolds are the way to go IF you need more flow. And, we like pictures! Patrick
Buicks like a qjet. Properly built they’ll idle and drive like fuel injection and won’t run/smell rich. The fuel delivery is exactly what some smart engineers decided it should be, not just a ‘one size fits all’ guess. If you’re cruisin’ it you’ll not need an 800cfm ‘71, your ‘70 carb (if you have it) would be fine. Patrick
Any suggestions on I took your advice. 800cfm 71 quadrajet built by one of the guys recommended through some old forums. Any thoughts on intake manifolds? Dual plenum? Single plane? Stock and ported?
