I was showing my lastest purchase (the 65 in my sig) to a couple of friends. Most of them liked it, but I kept hearing some annoying ass comments. "Looks like a Chevelle" and "I got a 383 that would make this thing fly" and the typical "You need a 454 in there"

    Drives me nuts.

yup..Everyone knows me as the guy that tries that Chevelle.
    Or Cutlass...or GTO...SOMETIMES rarely, its a Skylark.
Then i always here "Oh a B uick 350? take that POS out and put a Chevy 350 in it!!"
Ive even been told once a 350 Rocket would be a better swap.

Theres no respect or the Buick small block out there..Hahaha
BUt its easy to get it!!

It's the same all over. I had the cable guy at the house the other day repairing my cable, he needed to get in the attic so I had to back the GN out of the garage a little ways for him to pull down the attic door, he had already seen the GS in the driveway and he said nice car, after he came back down from the attic he said you sure have a nice Monte Carlo and he said it's not often you see two nice cars by the same owner he says oh by the way what year is the chevelle, duh what an idiot. I wanted to change over to a Dish right then and there. I told him they were Buicks he just nodded and look confused.

    No respect!

There's a member here (I forget his name) who pulls up to '80s Monte Carlo SSs and hollers "Nice Grand National!" for fun.

I'm gonna start yelling, "Nice Gran Sport!" to Chevelle SS owners, just to see the confusion on thier faces.

I've had a couple people confuse my car for a Chevelle.

When I got my exhaust work done on my car, I told the guy, "I don't want Flowmasters, I'd hate to sound like a Chevy." He thought that was pretty funny, and agreed.

  9. I havent taken any abuse over my Electra being a Buick . The one I got was "This cruise is for old cars "from a guy driving a $%#@*!@ celebrity station wagon:af:. Or the time I was out with my local chapter and we were supposed to be on the field along with a bunch of other antique cars and farm machinery , here I was the 4th car in a 6 CAR LINE OF BUICKS and they waived the first 3 in then tried to get me out of line so the 2 behind me could get in and tried to put my car into the parking lot instead of the showfield :puzzled: I was not a happy camper

I was driving down the road one day when a guy waved at me and yelled, "Does that have th 450 Rocket in it????" I said, "Yeah!" There's no point in correcting him...it'll never sink in at 50 mph.

I have also gotten the impala confusion. READ the LETTERS ON THE CAR!!!!!

They can't read believe me. I mean it's right there on the fender it sticks out in big letters "GS" and still nice chevelle.

Hey I didn't know Chevy made a Chevelle GS? Maybe they should!:Smarty: :Smarty: :Dou: :Do No: :moonu: :(

You've never heard of the Chevelle GS???

Regal1 said, "Hey I didn't know Chevy made a Chevelle GS? Maybe they should!"
Oh they did, it's the super rare option in the 70 and 71. I have one, the only one ever made actually. It has a Buick 454 Stage 8.

OK, so that was a bit far...but I couldn't think of anything better to say. Does anyone else have these rare cars that other folks might have pointed out to you at one time or another?

I also appraently own a 79 Impala - that's funny, because I swear it was a 71 LeSabre when I bought it. Why ask if you have no idea? If I don't know what it is then I keep my fat mouth shut. It's funny when you hear stories like this though

I was sitting at a light in the passing lane, sitting along side this car. The guy looked at my car bumper to bumper on the passenger side. Then asked me if it was an SS. He looked right at my emblems!! I just said "no its a Buick". When the light turned green I mashed the gas and made a whole lot of smoke and painted stripes on the street.

I was at a car show last year (in the GN) a kid came up to me and said he had the exact same car parked around back but his came with the optional V8:confused:  of course I'm thinking this guy is an idiot, we walk around to the back where his car is and it's a POS Monte Carlo, I just started laughing these people never learn. :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast:

Just today someone from the building working on the AC/Heating system was in my office, looked at the big picture of my car on the wall and said "Nice Nova !!!"

Slightly wincing i said ..."Thanks - Are you into old cars too ??"

Him - "Hell Yea !!! My Dad has a '69 Mustang with the Hi-Po 426 in it !!"

    I said..."Wowow !!! Thats a Rare Engine !! they didn't make that many of those !!"

Him - "Yea its rare.....he was offered over 70K for it, but turned them down"

At that point i had to get up and leave, or I would have laughed myself silly:Dou:

There are some STUPID people out there. I've said some dumb things around folks who have quickly corrected my errors...at least I don't give myself credit for thinking I know what I'm talking about when I really have no clue.

PS: My Buick 454 Stage 8 is for sale...only $77K (dollars, not miles):pp

Checks can be made out to Adam Martin. Remember, this is a one of a kind! Take advantage of this rare opportunity!!!

Wow a Hi Po 426 Mustang thats rare!

    That must be a 1 of 1.

No wait a minute stop the presses I know there is at least two because I've seen one with a Pistol Grip 4 speed and the other had Automatic 727:grin:
Oh no wait maybe that was a Boss 440!

The Boss 440's were sweet. My dad had one and we'd go race on the Nevada salt flats and run 7 second 1/4's.

I always wanted a Cutlass 443, too. I know what the 4's mean, but I can't figure out for the life of me what the 3 stands for! Maybe 3rd generation F-body. I heard those are popular:pp
