    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

Have you looked into hydro dipping, Briz? They make any pattern you can think of and you can tint it many different ways. A good hydro dipper will be able to match what you already have or want.....99% of the "wood", "aluminum, and "carbon fiber" in new cars is just hydro dipped plastic. Here's my Lexan panels I made for my Riv and dipped in red burlwood, and the stock ones in my Mach 1 I had done in a gray wood pattern. My buddy does hydro dipping as a side job. Super reasonable to do. woodgrain.png rivdrive2.png woodgrain3.jpg woodgrain4.jpg

Still coming out of mine. (funk that is) It started when it dawned on me that my cars bored me, and that no one else gave a tinker's cuss about them anyway. So I started to look at actively selling one and that didn't work out either, - you know part of it with the stupid shipping costs and the rest of it was the cross-border red tape. In the meantime, I went out into the garage, cracked a cold one, sat down and started to stare and think. It dawned on me that my boring old driver of an Electra was actually a beautiful car; - the light in the garage was just hitting it right where I could see the car's full potential. Not to mention, I had just got it to the point of complete reliability; it deserves a chance.
The long and the short of it is think back what got you into the hobby in the first place; it's who and what you are, like it or not. Then watch as some poor sod rubber-necks as he passes your car while he's beating on his late model Corolla sedan...and remind yourself that you are lucky enough to have what so many others want.

After having GM A bodies for years I too fell in the "Funk" a few years ago. Also, moving to Florida in my opinion made the old cars more of a PITA to operate, the heat, ethanol fuel, removing bugs etc, just did not enjoy cruising as much as I did on a crisp day in New England or the Midwest where I had lived before.

So I sold my GS convertible 2 years ago, my 73 Stage 1 last year, and frankly have not missed them at all. Just recently I have been getting an itch for something, no idea what but we'll see. Nothing wrong with taking a break or changing it up a bit, that's life.
